Dave I never did ask you on this build, (as you know I've got something similar NOW planned) :P  BUT, do you have any progress pics of where you cut the cabs to get this all "started"? This one is gonna "try" my body work skills I can see it coming And I haven't even started yet!

Sorry John I don't but if you look at the first page the pics should give you an idea. I can tell you that the rear doors should measure 33mm from the back of the door to the cut line which follows the door shut line . I then stepped the cut to back to get the shut line right like the real truck.

With the interior's I cut the front door at an angle to match the rear of the front seat and butted them together .

I hope the pic shows you where the cut was made . If you look at the chassis you can just see where the chassis was cut .  I removed the trans tunnel hump and replaced it with a straight tunnel

I hope this helps you with your future build ;)

Dave,

Workin the interior a bit to the extended cab Adventurer huh???? That looks pretty good too! I bet making that front seat fit the extended floor was a PITA! It looks like you had a little to figure out on the front seat alone!!!! The way ya did the back tho, looks good!

Yeah the rear cab interior was welded solid as was the bed . I had to saw the bed off the chassis so I could strip the old paint . I had to cut it at that angle so I could keep as much of the door cards as possible .

I still have to fill that little bit at the top of the doors

Always fun..... cut here fill there when yer done....... LOL you know the drill! LOL Wait..... My day is coming! I laugh now, BUT mine is gonna be a real hacked up mess from the start!!!!

My railroad truck build has CHANGED! It gained about 10 years of age LOL I'm using a '65 Dodge 4 door crew cab for it then the mid to late '70's I had originally had planed!

I have stalled on this for the time being . Still some bodywork to finish then into paint just cant decide what colour

You know..... thats the one thing that takes me a WEEK at times to make up my mind on, UNLESS its something I really don't have to think about for that particular model at the time..... is color!

Certain cars I just KNOW what color they're gonna be before I even start, then there are those other models, that it takes me a bit to make up my mind what the color is going to be. the easy ones for me are family cars I'm modeling...... Then those cars I simply like whatever color, but then those I have and just can't point out a color I like to see it in, or have seen it in that catches my interest so I set and look through pics online of the real thing to see whats been done, whats out there and if anything, what one really catches my eye and looks good that whatever color. kinda like my '68 Roadrunner Rallye Red on that car is just beautiful! With a black interior, Didn't know that when I first started building it, but then it got to the point I had to paint the inner fenders and HAD to come up with a color, and that red, was it! (be thee first model tho, I have EVER painted all red!

And its still ongoing John..! After flatting the roof down AGAIN I found that it was not as flat as I had hoped for. There is a distinct hump in the middle that w

ill need sanding out . But I think that the plasticard that I put on the roof to bridge the gap is creating the bulge. So I may have to remove it ...! We will see

That looks superb so far! It brings back memories of a 1974 crew cab ex-Air Force truck I had with a utility body on it. That was one tough truck. And your build looks exactly like her! She was even a similar color, being a very pale light green, used by the Air Force, and was exactly like this attached photo I found on the net, same color, year and body.
