Super28 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'm fixing to retire and plan on doing some model car building. I use to do it on the side. I have some questions I would like to get answers to from people that have learned the answer to. ie: The lettering and emblems on the exterior of 1/24 or 1/25 cars. I've seen pictures of some of these cars that people been doing for awhile and the emblems and letters are excellent, ("Impala", or Chevolet emblem) . How do you do it? Is there a place that sells these?
Ramfins59 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 You can get some PE (photo-etched) metal sets for certain kits from Model Car Garage. Some of us use BMF (Bare Metal Foil) to cover lettering and/or emblems before painting, and then either use paint thinner to gently remove the paint from the raised lettering or emblems, or carefully and lightly sanding the paint away with polishing cloths or sticks.
cowboy rich Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 This emblem was done just as Richard said covered with bmf painted then sanded with probably about 2000 grit. If you go down to tips tricks and tutorials there is a wealth of knowledge there for detailing. A bunch of them are still way outta my league. Oh welcome by the way almost forgot! lol
