Johnt671 Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 This is where it is now. Looks like a car now. A little detail on the firewall. I had to take the fan off the motor because the radiator wouldn't fit the fan. Maybe the smaller fan in the kit would have fit. I may try that but I'm not to worried about it because the fan won't show much anyway. I liked the bigger fan because the way I glued it on the fan would spin. Just a cool little feature.
Johnt671 Posted January 24, 2017 Author Posted January 24, 2017 I'm back from a visit with the grandkids.and slowly getting back to work. I'll be finishing the foiling tonight and start gluing the windows in. The interior is done. The exhaust lines up pretty nice with the headers so it looks like that will work out well. I've been doing some sanding on the floor of the interior because something on the floor pan seems to be keeping the front of the frame from going above the rocker panel. I'm also thinking about taking the lift blocks off the rear. I think the car will look slicker in the stock position. Any thoughts on this?
MoparWoman Jamie Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Watch the windshield area, the dash an glass will also give you an issue there too as the glass will seat where the dash seats at too. The term two things can't seat in the same place. I built quite afew 1969 Chargers models in my life LOL. I love these cars. To get the interior to fit, you might want to also maybe install the glass an test fit the windshield with the dash placement to get the interior to fit right an set right. The floor board on these models are to thick on the bottom of the two squares. Plus another area is the firewall sides under the front fender areas to. Try saving a few hairs off of them to as I always have to myself on my projects. Keep up the great work on the project here.
crazyrichard Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 i liked the seats all black , the first coat def. was way to shiney so wise choice on the flat black ..next time try semi gloss that usually comes close to the shine seats like that have .. and after its all hardened rub it with a cloth a bitin this case dont try to overthink it if the silver dont work just go flat black again and keep them that way ... looks good

I'm glad I did it that way. Watch the windshield area, the dash an glass will also give you an issue there too as the glass will seat where the dash seats at too. Idid some more sanding on the bottom of the interior, and it looks like there's enough room to fit the glass, but we'll see. I can't tell for sure but it looks like the tires aren't centered in the fender well, so I did a little sanding on back part of the inner fenders meet the fire wall but I may have to do a bit more. Check the picture out below. I lowered the rear end down to stock level, and I like the look more than the lifted rear. I screwed up on the black stripe on the rear and had to use the white on. The black one looked much better. Any one got a spare black one? When I took the picture of the interior I saw the console was crooked, so I took it out to fix it, but liked the look without it, so here's the really final interior picture.
426-Hemi Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 NICE work on that interior! That whole car looks REALLY good!!!! The carpet turned out really good too! -Nicely done!
Johnt671 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Some progress. While gluing the windows in I dropped the passenger side vent window, and when I moved the chair back to look for in, I set the chair on top of it and broke it.The windows are in and I'm working on some of the small parts.. The chassis is done. The rear end is almost done. The nose is almost done too. I found that the hood was warped so I've got it sitting with so weight on it. NICE work on that interior! That whole car looks REALLY good!!!! The carpet turned out really good too! -Nicely done! Thanks. Someone is sending me the black stripe for the rear. That will look better then the white that's on there now.
426-Hemi Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Yep I have to say I agree the black stripe will look better in its own way! Not that the white looks bad at all, just more of a color conflict is all but still looks GREAT on that car just because its different!
Johnt671 Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Got a little more done. Some small parts. Engine compartment is shaping up.
Johnt671 Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 Maybe it'll be done on Sunday. The black stripe makes a big difference in the light colored paint.
iamsuperdan Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I have this one on the bench too. Been pretty happy with it so far. Going in a totally different direction than you though. I like the silver and the "base model" hubcap/steel wheel setup. I've always preferred that look.
Johnt671 Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 John, That looks AWESOME!!!!! NICE job! Thanks. It's pretty much done so these will be the last pictures in this thread. All that's left is to clean the body body up and apply another coat of future, and I'll post pictures in the Under Glass section. I like the way the air cleaner sticks up into the scoop. Looks cool. I did mess up a few things. I forgot to put the interior rear view mirror on, and to paint the bottom of the interior that shows on the chassis , so now I have a nice white spot showing. I may be able to get in there with a brush. The biggest problem was the fit of the chassis causing the front to sit higher than I like. I thought I had worked that out, but when I glued it up it seemed higher. I think the issue is caused by the front of the bottom of the interior pan being too thick. I did sand it down but not enough. It could also be the fit of the glass, but the gap between the glass and the top of the dash looked pretty good. Thanks for all the tips and compliments from those who watched this build.
DumpyDan Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 You know I really like this look, this is really good looking model. 2 Thumbs up!
