97Dustang Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) Just started this kit, it's a 2014 mustang I'll be building into a drag car. So far I've just started the cage and it's already proving to be pretty challenging. I'd like to do a rear seat delete but I think it's going to be rather difficult to cut the rear seats out of the tub. Any tips or advice is much appreciated! Edited February 26, 2017 by 97Dustang
97Dustang Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) Almost zero room between seat and door panel, had to tweak the door bar in there and it's slightly crooked but I don't think it will be too noticeable in the final product Edited February 26, 2017 by 97Dustang
MeatMan Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I didn't do a rear seat delete but I cut out the molded-in seat on a '56 T-bird, and you are correct that it is a challenge. One thing to make sure of is that you account for all of the chassis contours. I had to cut an entire section out and then create a new one using sheet styrene. If you have any parts box interiors without a rear seat I suggest seeing if the rear section can be used.I also did a quick search on roll bars for your car and I see that a lot of them don't have straight bars but curve around the seat.Well, good luck. Btw, what engine are you planning on running?
97Dustang Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 thamks, good point about the chassis contours. I'm thinking the easiest way to achieve a rear seat delete would be to shave off the head rests. Then glue sheet styrene over the seats instead of cutting them out. Im planning on running the 5.0 it came with but adding a twin turbo kit onto it
