stitchdup Posted December 9, 2023 Author Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) So i said I had chopped up a mini truck chassis to fit this. Well after seeing "first love" built by troy trepanier, it now has the start of a third chassis though I'm not sure it can still be called a chassis as its closer to a monocoque now. The notch is for the lower part of the oil pan and it sits flush with the chassis bottom. I'll be making a mount in front the engine for the supercharger and it will double as the front suspension centre mount. I havent made the suspension arms yet but i think I'll do my best to make the front and rear arms match. I fully intend to have the floor blend into the chassis so I have incorporated some dips in the side that will make sense later. I havent started on the rear of the chassis but it will be a bit more standard style with a custom independant suspension. I've added all the pics from the start to a flickr album if you want to see them without watermarks I think i might have a plan to get the truck moving again too. If i remove 5 or 6mm from the bottom of the fenders and running boards it should be a fairly simple job to shape them similar to the car. It will only take a few hours to print out a set of matching rims and i have a cummins already built that should fill the bay nicely. I wont be going as mad as i am on the car, its a work truck after all so it doesn't need to be perfect paint or body and may even have a little patina. I need to get the car of the bench first though cos its packed full of stuff just now for multiple builds, lol Edited December 9, 2023 by stitchdup
stitchdup Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 chassis destroyed. gorrila epoxy is as trash as the rest of their garbage products. tried to clean off the useless unset epoxy and it fell apart. might be onto chassis number 4 or it might get thrown against a wall. just sick of wasting my time with nothing to show for 4 days
stitchdup Posted December 17, 2023 Author Posted December 17, 2023 well i've got chassis number 4 on its way. not ready for pics yet though. And while searching for pics of the fire truck to use for inspiration a pic popped up that will probably end up being the inspiration behind the hauler as its got a nice flow to it. I think it will work using the parts i've already got done, just with a lot more shaping plastic
stitchdup Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 (edited) ok its on chassis number 4 but i've only got the front end sorted out. i still need to decide how the back is going to be as i want it to be as custom as the rest but i've changed my mind on the rear axle again as i found a nice resin quickchange in my parts box. it might be the start of yet another independant axle or it might just get a 3 or 4 link. either way it will be bagged. so today i started assembly on the engine as the previous was just a paint test and i broke parts off it but i just printed another. I'll be adding the wiring and carbs the morn as its a little delicate to handle while the glue is setting. the dynamo was drawn up by my friend and i switched the front of the engine for a part from another flathead so i could have engine mounts and the belt set up to make it a more street engine. if you look closely at the engine pics you can see i have slotted the area under the engine and the slots are open all the way down. I did this for cooling and because i thought it might look kinda funky. I. i think the only stock part left is the grille now and its getting some smoothing on the top as the hood is now one piece so the hinge mount is superfluous had to assemble the engine to allow me to finish the front suspension as the blower and front suspension arms will be on a combined mount. I have some other bits i've customised too which will hopefully tie it all together. theres gonna be a lot of styling lines running underneath the floor Edited January 4, 2024 by stitchdup 1
