Clear Coating

Hi Guys & Gals,

How long should I wait before clearing, then how long again before micro meshing & buffing?

The best & easiest way to tell, is that the paint should have zero smell to it.......... if you can still smell it, that means the solvents are not fully gassed out yet. .......... same goes for the clear; this will tell you when it's ready for the finishing.

I was just about to use a Micro-Mesh polishing kit. And in a very rare thing for me to do, I actually read the instructions.  It recommended waiting at least a week for the paint to dry before using the polishing kit. 

The Smell Test described above is even better.

I don't have the best smell but with lacquers I'll wait 4-5 days or a little longer and more with enamel.
