ZIL 111V Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Was wondering who was the builder of AMT truck & trailer kits apearing on AMT picture boxes from mid to late 70's: Branch Road Boss (a real beauty), Freightliner Transcon/Coors, KW Alaskan, Western Star GP, Beer Big Rig sets, to name these Jensen? Doty? Anderson? Boyd? Anyone knows if these truck & trailer models are still in one piece today
mackinac359 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Most of the truck kits were built by Ted Taylor in the United Kingdom as AMT was at that time owned by Matchbox.
Jim B Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 How do you know all of this stuff? Is "AMT" your initials backwards?
ZIL 111V Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Tought British modeler Taylor built all the kits for box & catalog pictures when Matcbox UK took over AMT a bit later in time frame, if you look at the built ups from 1980 up some truck kits are slightly different in the looks then the 70's built ups: Freightliner COE, Pete 352, Alaskan KW. A few of Taylor work was kept for box pix when ERTL took over in 1983-84, then again who built the 1984 & up amt truck kit when ERTL took over, Taylor or US builder? .............Legendary Jensen never made a "star"truck kit for a boxtop for AMT, MPC, or ERTL in the 70's
