abedooley Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Im looking for some advice on painting the headlights to look like the super white lights which really look like a really clear blue. If anyone knows of a paint effect that can repliclate this, let me (and everyone else) know. Thanks ABE DOOLEY
george 53 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Abe, couldn't you just super dillute some candy blue paint and paint the reflector bucket ,or maybe the back of the headlight lens? It would give it a blueish tint.
m408 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 "The Detailer" makes a blue wash which might work on the buckets. It's water based so no problem if it doesn't give you the effect that you want. It also takes well to multiple coats to vary the depth of look.
abedooley Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Thanks guys!! Thats some great ideas!! Now I just need to go buy some more paint. Which is good. Just gives me an excuse to go to my favorite place, the hobby store!!! I want it to be subtle. Thanks guys!! Still trying to catch up to you guys! I am working on a '70 Dodge challenger and trying to make it look REALLY good for you guys. I have never put this much effort into building. I thought I was pretty good at building until I found this site and saw the awesome stuff you guys do!! I have pics on my photobucket. I need to update it though. I still need to finish some small details so I can use Future for the very first time. Hope it turns out good! Thanks again guys, ABE http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q59/abe...y/MODEL%20PICS/
abedooley Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 personally I would use testors blue metal flake. DO NOT shake the bottle. jst open it and dip a fine brush into the liquid @ the top and lightly brush into the back of clear lens. I have done this a few times and only had it go on too thick once. That prob was solved w/ a tiny drop of thinner brushed ontop of the nearly dry blue pigment. GREAT!! I have some of that already I think!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!
