evilone Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 ok since i am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo close to finishing my ambulance and i have two of these kits left to build i had a thought (kinda freaky huh) anyways here was the thought i love custom hearse's drag racing hearse so much i think its made out of crack i cant get enough so i thought it would be way cool if we did a friendly build off (just for fun) heres are the RULES 1:everything opens(all doors and hood) 2: aftermarket allowed(photoeched, belts, pullies, seat belts, rims, ext) 3:everything is done at home(paint, bodywork, and build up) 4:any style allowed(hot rods, low riders, rat rods, low rods, ext) 5:must be a friendly build off(no smack talkin we are here for fun and the love of this great hobby) 6:this is a hears build off nothing else is allowed (only hearses TIME LIMIT we have till august 13th so heres what im bringing to this shindig
Custom Hearse Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Hmmmm.... You never mentioned that all the doors have to open. I was planning to finish the "Corpsevette" during this build off, but the only door that will open is the rear. I do have a Jo-Han that I was planning on doing as a full detail though. I guess I'll have to go with that then. If you were ever wondering what was printed in the little box at the bottom, here's what it was.... Here's the body molded in Heavenly Orchid.... These are the wheels I'm planning to use on it.... And off we go!!!!
george 53 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Well, Marsh, you got me with the Corpsevette, now I REALLY wanna see what you can do with the "Heavenly Orchid" hearse!
evilone Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 You got how many build offs going on? 2 dragster build off and this one
evilone Posted June 15, 2008 Author Posted June 15, 2008 ###### ill post up my progress later tonight all i need to do is finish filling and sanding then i cut the doors good thing i have a hearse in my front driveway for 1:1 interior pics
Custom Hearse Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Looking forward to seeing them. I've been working on mine as much as possible, but work gets in the way every now and then.... Go figure?
Custom Hearse Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 O.K., I've started on the interior.... I've cut the door panels out of the tub, and I've removed the rollers.... Before.... And after.... More to come!
evilone Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 pm sent bro so heres what happened everything on the top is shaved and or filled and all the doors are cut its going to ba an all out lowrider painted violet with pearls and flake mixed in as the younger people it will be BALLIN$$$$ for the older fokes it will be FLY LOL
Custom Hearse Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 O.K., I got the doors chopped out. Next thing to work on is the rest of the interior. I plan to cut out the trans tunnel, and build a custom console. The trans tunnel is too low for a bigger engine, so it has to come out. here's the work so far.... I left the hardest part for last.... Cutting the two doors apart!!!! And.... TA-DA!!!! More later!
Custom Hearse Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hmmmm.... Must have cut too hard. The fender skirts fell off! Guess I'll have to add those to the list of things to detail....
abedooley Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I love watching these build-offs. I am yet to see the end of one though. I love the ghostbusters hearse. How old is that kit??? CORPESEVETTE??? WOW!! That some inginuity there! There are tooooo many talented people in one spot!! Its overwhelming for us untalented folk... I wanna try so much of the stuff I see most of you do, I'm just afraid of trashing a model beyond repair. Can't wait to see the end of this build-off. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS!!!
Custom Hearse Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Thanks Abe! I appreciate the great comment. I'll have another update soon for everyone!
Custom Hearse Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Well.... There goes the trans tunnel.... Coming up next: Frame change! Stay tuned to your local MCH channel!
Custom Hearse Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks Led(I think).... This has been fun for me too so far. Right now I'm chopping up the frame, removing the molded in exhaust and driveshaft. Keep watching for my next update soon!
Custom Hearse Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 O.K., I've started carving on the frame now. I'm not one who likes frames with molded exhaust and driveshafts. I was fortunate enough to find that the rear suspension on the '66 is the same as a '59, so I have the perfect replacement from a Monogram '59 Cadillac kit. On with the pics.... These are pics taken right after I carved it out with a Dremel tool. I've since cleaned the cuts up, and will post pics after I fill in the holes with sheet plastic.... I cut out as little as possible so that I won't use as much filler and sheet plastic.... All that's left is to remove the driveshaft after I fill in the holes. That way it'll be more sturdy when I cut it out.... More to follow, stay tuned!
Custom Hearse Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Build a casket for evilone while you are at it... Looking good! I've got 2, but I don't think he'll fit in either.... Thanks for the compliment!
