69 Camaro Street Fighter

So this is a kit I scored cheap off ebay a while ago which I was going to build stock as a Yenko, then I found that the decals were no good.  A bit of surfing and I came across the idea of the Camaro street fighter and really liked the look.

I don't have any pictures from the initial build as I started it a while ago but the body is painted in silver with a black hood, interior black and ready for detail painting.  Wheels I took from another kit, I think they were from the Mitsubishi Evo V fujimi kit which comes with two sets of wheels to choose from.  I sprayed the wheels black then painted a red rim by hand.  I have stayed away from any chrome and gone with the matt black look for edging.  It is a popular theme in the UK with modern cars to now have black grills, roof bars instead of chrome.

Good use of that wretched old MPC kit. You gotta do something with 'em, so might as well have some fun.  Drive on!

Finished this kit tonight, have to admit it was one of the worst kits I have come across.  Terrible fit, liberal use of superglue required.  Went for a debumpered look with wide tyres at the rear and thin wheels to the front for drag racing, gives it a good stance.  I will move this to the under glass.  Last picture has alternative wheel choice which are from a Japanese Mitsubishi Evo 3, sat low to replicate an air ride lowered setup.

Those MPC '69 Camaros are pretty crappy in many ways. Not nearly as bad as the old Monogram. The Revell '69s are GREAT. But it still looks pretty decent in spite of it's issues in that last pic with the gold center 5-spokes.
