gowjobs Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Like I didn't have enough projects, I won a Tamiya Stuart light tank in a club raffle last night, and the wheels started turning after I got home from work today. A couple of hours later: Now to find that Hogan's Heroes Jeep I had laying around...
VW Dave Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 It's actually an Imp, Dave....but I still think it's crazy & cool regardless. 8) EMPI Imp:
gowjobs Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 Yeah, I knew it was an Imp, but I was having better luck coming up with witty names based on "Manx" than "Imp". I have a ways to go, but the upper hull is coming together now. The next time I post photos, look for a Groovy Grader V-8 in the rear and a quickchange axle peeking through in the front. Hmmm... maybe a few skeletons - Rommel Rod needs a Desert Rat rival.
Wildrice Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Now that takes some twisted thinking. Cool idea.
BIGTRUCK Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Thats pretty neat Dave kinda military meets hotrod build
FASTBACK340 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Maybe you can try and get the rear portion of the tracks to follow the contour of the wheel opening a bit so it doesn't look like it's high-centered on the tracks. Otherwise that's an idea I've never seen before on a buggy. Great idea! Good luck with it. BTW: What scale & version Tamiya tank was that kit?
gowjobs Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 I need to trim the body just a little more, but... ..the headers will exit between the rear fender and the upper portion of the tracks in back. It's a Tamiya 1/35 M3 Stuart Light Tank hull, suspension and turret.
Jairus Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Tom Daniel couldn't do any better! Love it so far....
gowjobs Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 All weathered up and ready to run the obstacle course!
BIGTRUCK Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Thats wild and cool at the same time............
Wildrice Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 That is one wild but yet cool build. Great use of imagination.
Edward Gore Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 a bump to the past, but I had too. This project is too cool Saw it in person and got a couple pictures of this at a show/contest Great!
Jon Cole Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Way cool! When I saw the pics, I thought "Boy, that is something that Dave McGowan would like!" Then I noticed the name below I remember your style from the Spotlight board. I think Dave Deal's spirit has found a new home!
Edward Gore Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Best use of an armor kit won in a raffle EVER! The only question now is ... what contest category does it get entered in? :D
Modellpularn Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Hmmmm, what is it??? Ohh I know, gotta be Dr Fate's new ride.....! Remember that old movie, "The Great Race" or something like that, from the midsixties or so..... yes, I'm old.....
