Steve362 Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I bought a 1:1 1969 Roadrunner new. It was the cheap base model, with a 383 single 4 bbl., automatic with column shifter, bench seats, vinyl interior, everything cheap. I would like to build an accurate replica of it, but the only thing that I think will give me any trouble is the wheel covers. The car come stock with steel wheels and full wheel covers. I don't know how to describe them other than they were aluminum with round, fake holes. The simulated holes were painted flat black. I would like to know if anyone knows of anything close I could use. Thanks, Grunt
James W Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Wow, I don't ever remember seeing a Roadrunner with full wheel covers. I'm afraid the selection of model wheel choices falls well shy of such an unusual option. Magnum 500's, Dog Dish, and Rallye but no full wheel covers. Anybody out there casting these in resin?
Guest zebm1 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) Are you sure those were factory hubcaps and not aftermarket hubcaps? Or, are these the hubcaps your talking about? These came out on the 1969 Dodge Dart GT... Edited July 8, 2008 by zebm1

My uncle had a '69 Fury with these on it... though I've never seen them on a Roadrunner On a seperate note, I, myself, am looking for a set of these in scale... My buddy had a '71 Duster with these on it that he had to sell, and has regretted it ever since. I would like to re-create it for him.
Eshaver Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 O K , look heres what ya do . First get a A M T Hogans Heros Jeep then look on the chrome tree. There you will see a LONE hubcap. Now kids its really a Plymouth hubcap thatdates to 1960 we used to swipe them back in the day as they wuz really kool . . Then you take a little molding rubber and cast three more then you drill the holes in them and paint them with Al Clad, there problem solved , I have to go back to work my self Ed Shaver
Steve362 Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Igor, That's it!! I'm really glad to get your photo, because the only photo I have is after I replaced the stock wheels. Your information is very helpful, because I think that I can get the Fury covers from Modelhaus. Thanks a lot, Steve the grunt
