Stephen82kck Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) Im currently building a '49 mercury woody wagon and i wanna place 2 surfboards on top. My question is has anyone built a from scratch roof rack for any vehicles they have done and what is best way of going about building it. Edited January 18, 2018 by Stephen82kck Add more information
Casey Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) Here's one example: I would get some maximum dimensions (max width, length, etc.) then figure how you want to mount it (drip rail brackets, "feet" directly to the roof, etc.), then get some tubing (Evergreen or Plastruct styrene or brass/aluminum) and cut file, and glue/solder until it looks good to your eyes. It's almost guaranteed to be unique to fit this particular vehicle, so you have a lot of freedom to be creative-- use it. You could also Google search for pics of woody wagons, then copy or emulate one you see which you like. Edited January 18, 2018 by Casey
High octane Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Norm Veber of Replicas in Miniature Company of Maryland has a nice rack and surf boards available .
