Mike77 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 On the KW Papa truck cab there's a rectangular recess on the front. On photos of the real truck(s) there's a vent there but in the kit there doesn't appear to be a part that goes there, nor is anything indicated on the instruction sheet. Should there be a vent there?
Force Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Yes it should be a louvered vent there. It seems like AMT missed that when they first made the tooling for the COE Aerodyne cab, the Revell K100 kits and the AMT K123 has the vent in place. Here is a picture of the Papa Truck when it was for sale after Malone's passing, Gary Reis has the truck now and has restored it.
Mike77 Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Thanks for the info. Hmmm...I guess I'll have to decide what to do with that spot.
PettyKW43 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 If you have an AMT 352 Peterbilt on hand you can take a foil cast mold of the front vent panel and that would give you an accurate panel to add to the aerodyne cab. Or if you have a junk Pete cab cut it out , remove and file square the opening on the aerodyne cab and you are good to go. I’ve often thought that something was missing myself and that’s the fix I came up with. You can use the vent from the older K123 kit but it won’t be as accurate.
Mike77 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 I have a couple of old 352 cabs and I thought about that but in the end I decided to fill that depression in with a piece of styrene. It looks like it could be a vent door as opposed to an exposed vent, which in our fantasy model world works for me. With the paint and striping over it it's barely noticeable.

That’s exactly what I did on my Ford WT9000 cab
Ben Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 That vent is either a fresh air inlet or, like on mine, a windshield wiper motor access plate.
