Hello everyone.

My name is Dan and I live in Kansas City. I'm just getting back into model building/hording/collecting after a three year break.

I was in a local model club for 10 years and just got burned out.

I dabble in just about everything except low rider, tuners and exotics. I'm really into old dirt track cars now (sprint car & jalopy). This what drew me back. I was at Hobby Lobby this week end and picked up AMT'S The Old Fox '35 Chevy Sedan & the 2in1 Sprint Car/ Super Modified kit. I also picked up Revell's '64 Thunderbolt as nostalgia drag racing is my favorite.

40% off? Man they were only 30% off here. I did score big in June. They had mis marked one of the Flimsy 5 kits. It was marked $4.99 and model kits were 40% off as well.

BTW you wouldn't happen to be Jeff Whitaker would you?

I been using a 40% of coupon all week for buy the '68 Charger, 2 of the new Nova kits and a bunch of the old AMT short track kits ( '65 Chevelle & '66 Impala). Even got my friends to help out! ( one coupon per person) ;) Its a little hard to keep track of what Hobby Lobby is doing as far as sales & coupons go. I signed up for their email service coupons. You can print off coupons.

No, its Jeff Scott and I saw you signing up in the 'other' forum and I posted in there too. Look for FreightTrain.

:lol: You funny Zeb! Well, it was my name in High School football and later cause I have a love for twin front engine top fuel dragsters from the '60s and who can forget the "FreightTrain" rail? Now, I have 'shrink' due to age & health issues & a lot less weight than I was in high school now too! Playing football, I weighted around 320 and today its 225, its no fun being 'large' boned huh?:lol:

Yeah, I know how clubs sometimes go. I belonged to one, and then nominated for president, then elected president, we put on a pretty big show, and we were in a small market competing with another club for members. It just became a lot of work and alot less modeling, and eventually taking the fun and relaxation out of it completely.

I moved 1200 miles away since then, and there is a few clubs around. However, I am not to much interested in clubing any more.

I wound renew my IPMS membership perhaps if there was a National that was half-way around the world from here.

That was part of my burn out. For the 11 years I was a member I was the scretary for two years then treasurer for two years and doing the news letter for a couple of years while being on the board.

I miss some of the members but I don't know if I want to join again.

Oh yea.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. On the "other" forum Jeff was the only one to welcome me back.

Dan, I do my best to welcome everybody cause thats what we all should do, make new members feel welcome & good about joining the forums and help each other out. Not sure what the problem is over at the "other" forum but one would think with that many members over there, there would be at least a dozen welcomes for all but some never even get a welcome..

Whatever the problem is over "there", thats the reason I spend more time in this great forum and I hope you will enjoy it too! Thanks & have fun!

Jeff,

I'm enjoying it a lot more here. Much more laid back.

I don't remember the "other" place being like that in the past.

I have met Gregg in person at shows when I was with the model club and know he is not "Corporate" at all. That makes a huge differnence.
