Chris guthro Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Thanks Marcel!! Anybody got any suggestions as to what to use to make the Chassis? Im not to sure about using the Stock chassis becuase it doesnt look like its very heavy duty enough for a 1 ton!
evilone Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 i hate you noy really i so want to do one but i havent worked with resin befor
Chris guthro Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 its not resin. Its is the AMT 1950 Chevy Truck kit. Im using 2 of them to make this into a Crew cab. Its actually very simple to make.
texasfunk Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 first of all..for a frame use square styrene strips..and make a frame. and second thing...u mind if i make one?! lol
CB Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 (edited) me too! I wanna make one too! I LOVE COE's, specially chopped ones, but that crewcab is one cool lookin ride -- wonder what kinda chicks you could pick up wit dat? Edited July 24, 2008 by Crap'n Blaque
torinobradley Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 You should be able to use the chassis from a dually pickup like the Ford or even the phantom dually street rod... I don't remember them making a Chevy but I could be wrong. I believe there is also a resin COE out there you might look at to see if the cost is less than the work you are going to put in. I have wanted to do one of these but just never got the ambition... yet...
mhadman Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 This is going to be fun to watch!I really love these stub nose trucks....How hard is the hood going to be to get it to fit? Keep the updates rolling along.
kk916 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 (edited) Couldn't you just modify 2 stock frames to make a beefier frame that would match a COE frame? Just a thought. I figure you'll need 2 cabs for that extra cab anyways so might as well put the rest of the parts to use as well right? There was just a thread on a Chevy COE a few months back on the HAMB forums. Heres the link and some others... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250494 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219018 http://www.classiccoe.com/spanky.htm http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562695973ulKaWB http://community.webshots.com/user/snubnose4754 http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1115995249052570246OMiErm http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1115995760052570246JnjCKb Edited July 24, 2008 by kk916

If you are going to make it a street rod many people that the either dually truck chassies or the more big rig chassies and put it on that. Crapn a answere to ur question. As many as will fit.
62SS Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 This is gonna be cool. Keep the pics coming. Cant wait to see it done
