Well, after 8 months of cold-turkey I broke down and got myself a new digital camera; Sony Cyber-shot DSC W-150 (8.1 mega-pixels) so I can finally share some of my recent builds with you!

Here are a few views of my 39 Chevy Coupe. It's the Revell street rod built as a factory stock model. I did a lot of kit-bashing and scratch-building on this one. The Stovebolt Six is from the Monogram '53 Bel Air, with scratch-built period air-cleaner, and as much wiring and plumbing as I could reasonably manage. The exhaust system and drive-train are also scratch-built from aluminum tubing. The factory-correct bumpers and tail lamps were sourced from the Jada Toys 39 Chevy Sedan lowrider (as was the passenger seat, which I had to cut down a bit). I used plastic stock and Tamiya masking tape to simulate stock upholstery and added door handles, window cranks and the shift lever from the Revell 37 Ford Panel Truck (also got the scalloped steel wheels from that kit). The wide white sidewalls are from the Revell/Monogram 57 Corvette and the hubcaps from the AMT 37 Chevy Coupe.

Paint is Tamiya TS 12 Gloss Black decanted and sprayed through my Badger 360.

Hope you like it!

Truly a beautiful build! This is another one of those vehicles that when I see one factory stock I think..."So THIS is what they looked like originally." Hate to ask, but would it be possible to see more photos? So glad you stuck with it and shared this with us. Most people think their model is "unique" when they customize/or modify it and so on....and their is nothing wrong with that. However, THIS build is what is unique and very uncommon. Congratulations on creating a fine model, and for daring to be different! Fury3

Its too bad you dont see many of these built factory stock. Its such a beautiful car, and yours is one of the nicest Ive seen. Congrats on a Great job. Youve captured the look of this car perfectly.

Hey, thanks guys! Appreciate your kind words!

Forgot to mention that I had to scratch-build new engine mounts to receive the Monogram Stovebolt Six. Sourced a gas tank from the Monogram 37 Ford Sedan (the street rod and low-rider 39 Chevy kits have the gas tank and filler cap mid-frame, but for the factory stock model the tank was at the back and the filler cap was on the right rear fender).

I seem to have maxed out my available band-width on pix. . .will see if I can post some more later.

i really wish they made this kit with a factory stock option... like how the AMT 37 chevy kits are... hopefully someday they will modify the kit for one or make a new one for us ;) awesome work man

do you guys have the pink ones?;)

I had my choice of colors and I got a black one--somehow more business-like and serious! :D

Glad you like the build! Here are links to 3 more images on Photobucket including one of the R&R resin 39 Chevy Sedan; built as a curbside, it was sort of a dry-run for the coupe.

Hey! Thanks for the tip! I'll try that soon!

And thanks again for all the good words; nothing like positive feedback to get the ol' model-building juices flowing!
