bitner Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) Here is my model of one of Seattle's two 1969 Kenworth tractor drawn ariel ladder trucks. I'm working on a narrow nose for it so it will be more prototypical. the trailer, rear truck body, and ladder turntable are scratch built. I made the decals. The 100' ladder is about 4 feet long when extended all the way out. Edited July 30, 2008 by bitner
kasteer Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Beautiful truck! How many hours do you have in this beast?
Slim Louis Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Awesome! I'm not(wasn't) a truck guy, but this stuff grows on you, ya know?
bitner Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 Thanks guys: it was really fun to build. Eventually I'll add one of Seattle's Kenworth conventional pumper trucks to go with it. It took about three weeks to build if I remember right. Cheers: Bill
Old Albion Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Bill, Very Impressive looking rig. Your scratch building skills are excellent. Come to think of it all the Fire Apparatus builders on this board have superb scratch building skills. I will definately look forward to your build of the pumper truck. Just out of interest what engine did you put in it? Best Wishes Dave Bates
bitner Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Hi Dave: Thanks for the nice comments. It's got a 8v-71 Detroit Diesel, just like the prototype. Cheers: Bill
