Robert81 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I entered this 55 in two community builds, the 72 hour Build, on TRaK forum, and the custom build off here. I had a few issues pop up during the build, the most not able is that the body/interior doesn't fit on the chassis very well. I started with AMT's 55 Bel Air two door sedan. I added the wheels from AMT's 49 Mercury, the baby moons and Appleton spotlights from AMT's 56 Ford Victoria, and the 409 from Revell's 60's tool 55 Bel Air hatdtop. On to the pics. Inside Outside And paired with last months 48 hour entry, my 32 Ford 5 Window Hot Rod. I hope you enjoy.
sdrodder Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 kindof reminds me of the yellow 57 bel air in the movie hollywood nights. Looks cool and your the first one to finish. Sweet
Willy Survive Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 neat build. but 72 hours? jeez i never heard of anything like that. very cool chevy though, love the stance.
Robert81 Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Thanks all. I had a lot of fun. neat build. but 72 hours? jeez i never heard of anything like that. very cool chevy though, love the stance. 72 hours is nothing in the eyes of most modeler. It is just some thing I do with some members of another forum. It is more about get some on the shelf, when most builds take months. The 55 actually took only 48 hours, and the 32 took just over 24 hours, of coarse I did sleep and do other things in that time. They are not the best I can do, just a fun, quick build. Willy Survive Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Thats a cool idea. I've never thought of doing anything like that. Seems like it worked out good for you. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

I gotta start doin some 'fun, quick' builds, at least a little 'quicker', and get some on the shelf . Thanks fer showin us that a decent rod can be done in not a whole lot of time, with the 55 and the 32
RodBurNeR Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 only 48 hours Robert? ###### you really DID kick my butt! i still have my engine out LOL
randx0 Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 I like all the elements you brought together on this build. If I tried a 72 hour build it would somehow transform into a 6 year super build of a 1/25 scale planet earth. or just a bad case of let's just add one more little detail until it becomes too complicated to finish in three days. great job and perhaps I'll try to finish something quickly.
Robert81 Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 I'm really glad you all like it. The key to a quick build, (at least is for me) is to plan what you will need and what you want to do to, and have it all ready to go when you start. The biggest rule is Keep it simple, stupid. I had close to a month to plan how I was going to do it, and gather what I needed. Even with all my planning there are a few things that I would have done differently and some things I missed.
