  1. Hey everyone, I haven't been on in a while because of how sick my dad Ed was. He posted on the forum as 62ss. I was just letting everyone know that he passed away about a week ago from complications of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. He was quite the avid poster here and I know he was tight with some of you guys. It's been a long road and he's finally at peace. Thanks guys. I'll talk to you soon.
  2. Yes but the deficit has been breaking records for about the past 5 to 6 years. When the Obama administration entered office what did they really have to work with? Certainly not the surplus that Clinton left behind. There had already been hundreds of billions of dollars of bailouts handed out. Yes, handed out, not loaned. An unjustifialbe war in the middle east that is a money vacuum for the U.S. taxpayers. So basically what I'm saying Harry is if I hand you my debit card with -$200 in it, how can I get mad when it's in your possesion and the overdraft fees kicked in and now its -$236? Wasn't your fault was it? Absolutely not. Seems like a good analogy of what the current administration has gotten stuck with. So I'm sorry if automobiles seem trivial to me when every day young men and women are killed and mamed for a war with no reason. Send the troops back home we'll save a lot of money that way too.
  3. Hey Dad Happy Birthday man. I hope you get lots of cool models that i can rob parts out of. I couldn't ask for a cooler, more understanding father. I hope you enjoy your day Dad. By the way ice cream cake at your house this week?
  4. HAHAHA. I was thinkin' the same thing but I didn't wanna gloat about my Penguins too much. But I will talk as much trash on Marian Hossa as humanly possible... for the rest of my life.
  5. Dukesfan didn't say anything about the seller being a kid (as a matter of fact he said "guy"). And if this "guy" didn't wanna sell them for $.50 a piece all he had to say was no. Doesn't seem like rocket science to me. Good score Dukes. And by the way Jairus I hope we all get to become true modelers like yourself. Thank you for all the wonderful examples you've showed us on this message board thoughout the years.
  6. That's awesome !!! Great restoration as usual Bob.
  7. Nah same versions just the original has a huge box . Replicas and Minatures of Maryland makes the Buick side trim for the Merc. So it's not included in the kit in either packaging. I'm not sure but with this modelhaus version I think the Buick side trim may already be molded into the body. Tom can tell you for sure but I'm pretty sure thats correct. As a side note Reps and Mins makes lots of other cool stuff for the Revell Merc. Caddy batwing air cleaner, dash and knobs, interior door handles, nicer frenched tailights etc. etc. And if you've never used their stuff it's awesome and super easy to work with. Oh well now that I sound like an infomercial... BTW I'm pretty sure I told you in person at NNL East how nice it was but once again very nice Merc build there Tom.
  8. Yeah I thought that too. With the UTI student thing in his signature he'd have to be at least 18. Got no horse in this race 'cause Ive been hearing horror stories since day one and never wanted to deal with it. But if it was me that had lost out I believe I'd get together with the other guys that were ripped off and take the loss and lobby the admin to have him removed. Sounds harsh but one guy said a year and a half. And kevin's big claim is that he hasn't ripped anyone off just got backed up and in over his head. A year and a half IS a rip off Kevin!!! Hope you do whats right man cause I've seen people bend over backwards for you. Just remember if you're given an opportunity to clear your name and get everything straight that is was a blessing and not a priviledge. Some of these guys are beyond apologies. So if I were you I wouldn't post anything in the wanted or swap sections. Good luck.
  9. I've heard most of those bands Tommy. I always considered that stuff more alt-country than outlaw-country. Great stuff though. Aren't the Badlees a Pittsburgh based band? I think I saw them once when I was "stuck" going to see the Clarks (as a side note don't bother looking up the Clarks...You'll hate them) Are you into Ryan Adams and Jesse Malin? They're now closer to the alt than country but cool stuff none the less. And I probably wouldn't have know a lot of these guys if I didn't spend like 4 years working in a record store before my kids were born. Oh BTW check out Sodajerk I think you'll dig 'em. Later.
  10. I'm a huge George Romero fan so my favorite of all time is definitely the original "Dawn of the Dead". Lots more in no particular order. Edward Scissor hands Mother, Jugs, and Speed Evil Dead Trilogy The Longest Day The Hell fighters (Grossly underrated John Wayne classic) Thunder Road Departed Cape Fear (Both Versions) Night of the Hunter (Robert Mitchum at his creepy best) Shaun of the Dead Star Wars Series Slap Shot The Shootist Sea of Love Bad Boys (A young Sean Penn in a juvenile detention center...Awesome and brutal) Suspiria Halloween (Original ONLY ) Dead Alive L.A. Confidential On The Waterfront Airplane Escape from Alcatraz Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil The Grifters The Outsiders (if you haven't seen it please do) etc. etc. etc... Mark my turn to compliment you on your taste "Crossroads" is one of the greatest music movies ever. Strong performance by Ralph Macchio (yes, the karate kid himself) and I believe it was Steve Vai who he competed with in the amazing climactic guitar duel. Great great movie.
  11. Hahaha Steve. Yeah I thought it was strange he'd never seen one. I think the Herringbone ragtop I was thinkin' of was the Indy pace car. Man 20 years... That woulda put me in the 4th grade. What about you Steve? What grade were you in 20 years ago?
  12. Those Revell glue kits have actually been out closer to 20 years. Got one for Christmas from my Uncle Mike in December of 1990. And I have a Hot Rod Magazine Revell issue of a Yenko that is dated 1990 as well. If I'm not mistaken Revell also did do a ragtop. Pretty sure it was a 302 with the herringbone interior decals. Which were very nice if I remember correctly. Good luck man. Hope you find what you're looking for.
  13. '62 Pontiac 421 SD '64 Ford Thunderbolt '40 Ford Standard Coupe '65 Riviera '61 Impala Pretty generic choices but those are what I like. I limited the list to my top 5 in order.
  14. Luis, then where is it? I talked to Biggs about it at NNL East and he told me it's definitely coming out too. But I've been waiting for boxart, promo pics, Anthony's version of it, etc., etc, anything really? I really want this kit to bash into an '84 Hurst Olds and I think a bunch of us are just curious what the hold-up is?
  15. Great work there Lyle. I especially like the fact that you didn't hog out the rear wheelwells and you stuffed the slicks under the stock wheel openings. Looks 10 times better IMO. I love the decal placement and especially the one of the little senorita showing her bloomers on the rear of the decklid. What? Are you suprised that I like a decal of a girl showing her underpants? I suggest that you build more drag cars buddy.
  16. I totally agree with you about the new Camaro. I don't really see much of a resembalance to a '69 at all. To be totally honest I know they just officially came out this week but I'm already sick of them. We've been seeing the for almost 5 years now. the Challenger seems big to me too. Of course I'm a little younger than you there Mr. Hernandez. (dad always taught me to respect me elders...especially my MUCH elders). But I'd be comfortable in the '95 Impala too there buddy. Is it the SS with the Vette motor George? Gotta remeber George these car companys are the same ones that have done things to us over the last 30 years like the Mustang II, K Car, Lumina van, AMC Eagle, Festiva, and the Cobalt SS. Some of these even have a place in some people's hearts (not mine, but some people). I think it's about time that we all realize that Detroit doesn't care what we think. That car will sell because it's the long awaited "Return of the Camaro". Doesn't matter how bad it looks or how much it is. Detroit if you're listening, boy do we have some suggestions for you!!! That looks awesome by the way Harry.
  17. Pretty sweet list of stuff coming out. I'd like to do a '66 Biscayne conversion too. I won't buy the 442 cause unlike most of you guys I prefer hardtops to convertibles. But eventually they'll probably tool a hardtop version anyhow. Is the '37 pickup a new kit or a re-issue? I don't think I've ever seen one. But I could dig on the '65 Chevy truck too. All in all a decent list but none of it has me more excited than the '32 5 window due in July. Still can't wait for that.
  18. Mastodon has really come into their own. You're 100 percent right "Crack the Skye" is the album that I firmly believe will become a "London Calling", "Disreli Gears", or "Paranoid" to the next generation of little rockers. Can't wait for the day when my son starts digging through my records and finds stuff like Mastodon, QOTSA, Hank III, and Pelican. I know thats how I discovered a lot of stuff I still love to this day. The Wall, Led Zep 4, Ziggy Stardust, and when the old man wasn't looking Richard Pryor. Just wanna say thanks pops for not listening to terrible music and helping me discover great bands and great albums.
  19. Awesome list there Chuck. Good to see I'm not the only one that still prefers pops, hisses, and white noise. Did you get the vinyl version of QOTSA's "R". It's just titled "X". Bonus track is killer. If any of you guys get a chance check out Rodrigo y Gabriela it's sorta like flamenco music done my metalheads. They do an awesome version of Metallica's "Orion". Great stuff I think a lot of you guys would be into it.
  20. Miguel, that's a very admirable thing that you did and I'm sure I speak for more than myself when I say thank you for taking the time. I'm glad you had a great time and I'm sure the kids had even more fun. I know many of us have "thought" of doing more charity work and I'm glad to see someone get beyond the thought process. Nice job buddy.
  21. Those are hand-painted man. Like all the old hot rod guys did it. Really awesome job by the way. You've got a good eye and a steady hand. Great work man. I'm impressed.
  22. Awesome question. My friends and I call these are "closet Bands". I've got a few I guess. I guess I have more "closet songs" rather than bands I suppose. But I dare you to listen to any on these and not catch yourself bobbing your head. Sara Evans - Suds In the Bucket Britany Spears - Toxic George Michael - Faith Michael Jackson - Thriller (I think I like it mostly for the zombie video) Third Eye Blind - Everything (They are quite possibly my favorite American pop band of all time.) and yeah the Carpenters are pretty awesome. Great Christmas album. I don't know how to make a playlist or really how to use MP3s or honestly I have no idea how to download songs. I'm not the most computer literate guy in the world. But I do have a stereo with a cd layer and a turntable in my workshop. Here's what I dig listening to: Mastodon Queens of the Stone Age Sleep High On Fire Pentagram Kyuss Kalas Black Sabbath Metallica (1988 and prior) Every Time I Die Bongzilla Blood Duster Agoraphobic Nosebleed Converge Doomriders The Clash Tommy James and the Shondells Dion Prince G'N'R Joy Division Smiths Motorhead Etc. Etc. Etc. I guess I just like anything with a cool guitar riff (Yes Prince is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time). Til next time "Purple rain, purple rain..."
  23. A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel on his crotch and says "Arrr I'd like a beer ya landlubber." Bartender says "Sure buddy, but you know you've got a steering wheel on your crotch right"? The pirate replied "Arrr I know, it's been drivin' me nuts all day". Jeffrey Dahmer's parents were at his house for dinner one evening when his dad said to him "Jeffrey, we really don't like your friends". Dahmer replied "Then shut up and eat your vegetables". I think that's all the clean ones I know.
