  1. I guess I started back when I was about 6 putting snap kits together. Then I started to get glue kits and would just paint the body. I grew up with my dad owning and driving race cars and he always had the coolest daily drivers ('70 Cutlass, '75 GMC custom pickup, '70 Monte Carlo) So I think I was just kind of destined to be a car guy. I hit like 12 years old and everything my dad thought was cool I thought sucked. Cars included. Fast forward about 12 or 13 years and I just went to a local model show with my old man for something to do on a Sunday. Erica (wifey) was pregnant and due in a couple of weeks so I had been staying out of bars (and fights!). I decided to pick up an AMT '65 Lincoln. I had looked around and bought a few others without ever even really opening the boxes. Then my dad bought me the Revell '68 Firebird kit and I just went to town. I also have the same problem with finishing that a lot of you guys do. Which is the main reason I joined a club. It's great motivation to see what your fellow club members have gotten done over the course of a month. It's a great outlet for energy in my opinion and I love the fact that my whole family enjoys it. My dad is still a building machine and my little brother (9) like to pull one out and build here and again. I've even done a few snap kits with my 3 year old son. The other thing I love is the camaraderie between builders. Of course you always may not like someone but I've never really had that issue. And I just think it's awesome how you can go to a show and ask guys like Anthony Rios, Gary Kulchock, Clay Kemp, Bill Geary, and David Thibadeau how they did something to their model and they'll take as much time as you need to explain it to you. You think if my hobby was golf that Tigers Woods would explain to me how to get a better swing? Yeah me neither. I love this hobby and I don't know where I'd be without it. That's why I model cars.
  2. Well one of those was my fault. I just guessed, typed, and posted. I'n good now, I voted. Still have visions from NNL East dancing around my head.
  3. Haven't played in a while. I'll say model.
  4. Cruz I saw your models but I never ended up meeting you. Gotta hang out next time. Great models BTW.
  5. Seeds that stuff is great. I'm also a big fan of this style artwork and I've been playing around with pinstriping for about a year now. Awesome work bud. Do you tattoo or anything? Love that old Ford with the arm and shifter coming through the roof. Nice job. Post more as much as possible and maybe give us a link to buy some prints?
  6. I thought it was Father Gregg wasn't it Tom? Or papi? I had such an awesome time all weekend. Got to hang out with Gregg, Anthony Rios, Nick Sandoz, Nick F40 and his dad Randy, Mr. 1/16th, Chris 619 and lots of other people from the forum. Friday was hysterical and I believe I have some pictures to prove it. Thanks for the awesome time everyone. All of you guys who've never been to this show, I strongly suggest it. I know I'll never miss another one.
  7. "What do you mean it doesn't make any sense to wear a belt and suspenders at the same time?"
  8. George that would be awesome to hang out with you. Yeah Santiago and Anthony were pretty funny at the bar the night before the show. Awesome guys and we had a great time. Looking forward to all of us causing a little bit of a ruckus together. I think I owe you a Corona anyways man.
  9. Cool to meet some of you guys too. Nick, Randy, Biggs, Mr 1/16th, Chris 619, and the big man Gregg. I had loads of fun fellas. Can't wait to do it all again next year. Maybe Ohio this year? Anyone else gonna go to that one in October?
  10. Yep, David T. won Best In Show with his FXX. Great model. So much good stuff I think it oughtta be a 2 day event just to take it all in. Quickest 7 hours of my life.
  11. A long abstinence? Did you give it up for lent? I'll be there with Bobby and the rest of NCWVSM. Ready to spend money and meet some of you fellas. Ought to be a good time. This is my first NNL as well. Hey Lyle, only 990 to go.
  12. You're right the mag isn't horrible and they do have some amazing builds, featured articles, and great tips and tricks. I just like MCM better. It's bigger and the price is better. It's always very well written and I think it consistantly has a more diverse collection of builds. I do still get Scale Auto and will continue to get it because it's one of two modeling magazines. Not like car magazines where there are 5,000 of them. I just think that Scale Auto could be written better and like I said five contest pics of the same model over two issues is a little much. All were from different angles and it was a great model but I, like most of you, want new pics of new models. And the last reason: Contest Annual, MCM $4.50 - Scale Auto $12.95!!! No comparison.
  13. Very cool stuff Nick. Are you serious about rallying? And what are you planning on driving? Citroen and Ford Europe are the only manufacturers competeing in WRC this year? I knew Subaru pulled out but I had no idea about Peugot and Mitsubishi? Crazy man I hope it comes back strong but it does seem pretty "wine and cheese" for the moment.
  14. Ain't that the truth. Plus even though I buy it 'cause of some of the builds in it I'll say it's one of the worst edited magazines I've ever read. A few months back the same car was in the magazine 3 different times with 3 different contest pics. Great build but come on don't they proofread? Sure enough 2 contest pics of the same car were in the next issue too. Makes you wonder what you're paying for?
  15. Cool to see that one. I actually have this kit and have been wanting to build it for a long time but those are the first set of aftermarket decals I've ever seen for this little Ford. I can't use the kit decals (Texaco) because they are printed screwy. It's almost like the first stamp didn't line up with the second and every decal on the sheet looks awful. BTW that is in total lamens terms 'cause I actually have no idea how they print decals. If any of you guys have got a line on aftermarket decals for this car or some other resource let me know. Very very cool car too!!!
  16. LVZ2881, I've been hearing alot of rumors that the super stock decals in the new issue 421 SD will be that of Bill Knafel's "Tin Indian". I couldn't find any reference pics on the car. I tried Google, Ebay, GoMotorBids, etc. and couldn't find anything. It makes sense that they wouldn't do the Beswick car since Slixx already does a great sheet for it. Anyone got a pic of this "Tin Indian" they could post? I really wanna check this thing out.
  17. I saw a making of: on HBO and I sort of figured out that it took place between 2 Fast and Tokyo Drift because of a certain character that was in both films. Sorry to be so vague but I don't wanna spoil the movie for anyone. I will say I really wanna see it 'cause I can't figure out how they woulda ever let Brian be a cop again. Hope there's a backstory on that. And Kevin is right the F-Bomb Camaro was built by David Frieberger and HRM. 1500 HP in a Camaro. Sick, absolutely sick.
  18. Biggs, no offence but that wasn't too cool man. Kidding around is kidding around but people tend to get a little crazy when it comes to feeding their families. And understandably so in my opinion. Kevin, I don't think you should be allowed to talk (or type for that matter) ever again.... April Fools.... Not very funny is it? When you move out of Mommy and Daddy's house and start paying some grown up bills and have grown up worries and you get laid off you can tell me how funny things like that are. Until then shut up. Jantrix, your wife sound funny.... brutal but funny. I probably would have passed out if my wife woulda done that. Kudos to her for a great April Fools joke.
  19. Not to nitpick but I see the '62 421 SD Catalina 2 n 1 coming in August for 15.90. This is the kit I'm most excited about making a comeback. Especially because they're gonna put the vent windows with it and put a set of SS/S decals with it to "replicate one of the most famous Catalina super stock drag cars to ever race the strip." Can't wait to see which car it is.
  20. Wow! Really nice Chris. Great job. Love the decals.
  21. Good thinkin' Gary. I've got a ton of those Chevelle wagons too. Thanks for the suggestion.
  22. George if I don't post now I'll probably forget too. Happy Birthday man!!! To a great friend and an awesome picture poster I really appreciate all of the nice things you say about me and my family. You always comment on our builds and topics. You've encouraged my little brother in his building. And you've even given me advice from time to time. I really mean it when I say I hope you have a wonderful birthday with your great family and get all the stuff you want. You're truly blessed brother. Can't wait to hang out one day. Have a Corona on me. Congrats.
  23. That looks awesome. Where did the front wheels come from? Great work.
  24. Awesome info Lyle. Thanks for answering all of my questions. With your info I should be able to create a pretty nice Yenko Nova. Thanks again. BTW all interiors were black correct?
