Berk765 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Is there any way to detach parts that are glued together? I need to remove an engine front plate from a blower pulley setup.
ericmaxman Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 For me, I sprinkle some water and seal it in a bag. Leave it in the freezer for a few hours. That should loosen up the glue. Cheers, Eric
george 53 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Berk, I have used paint thinner before to loosen up glued parts.Just dip a straw in some an cover up one end(this creates a vacum in the straw)and then, just put a drop or two on the ares you want to loosen.Let it set a min. or two then try to gently pry it apart with an X-acto knife. The thinner weakens the hold of the glue and allows it to come apart without to much trouble. Just be careful with the X-acto blade.(owwww!)

Thanks, I'm going to install a blower on my 'stang, and I'm basicaly using doner parts to do it. I had to take an intake manifold off a blown 426 Hemi (hated to do that, it looked awsome). I'm installing a rear axle off a 1956 Ford flipnose truck to keep the wider tires from sticking out too much from the rear fenders. I'm going to install headers, and huge velocity stacks that came from an American Graffiti '32 Ford kit. I'm very excited about this build.
