Hooked on Chaparral Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 (edited) I have ordered some Zero Paints from Hobby World, not so sure if it is a "true" lacquer or a derivative of a lacquer (enamel). I asked someone about it in another forum and they said "it's kinda both"? I know from what I have gathered so far it basically comes dull coat and you are expected to clear coat it fairly quickly after your final coat. I want to do this model as correctly as possible that is why I am going with this paint sight unseen so to speak. Number One, I really don't like clear coating, that and the fact I have very little experience with clear coat. Number Two, what do you use to primer this type paint? I understand because of Lacquers "hot" lay down properties you can ruin a paint job REAL fast if not adequately prepped. Given the price of the initial kit PLUS the cost and availability (0) of the trans kit "mess up" is not an option. So, in conclusion can anybody give me any guidance here, THANK YOU all so much for reading this! Edited October 24, 2018 by Hooked on Chaparral
Matt Bacon Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I use them all the time. Tamiya Fine Surface primer in grey, white or pink depending on the final colour works well. To save writing it all out again, full recommendations and techniques are here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234956647-matts-tips-for-painting-cars/ Any questions, just ask... Best, M.
