CAL Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Just sitting here think about it and nothing's jumping out at me.... Maybe I need to buy another kit... Edited August 12, 2008 by CAL
Nick F40 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Just build one of the 30 GTP or prototype cars you have, build a Porsche build an RX8 with detail!
gregbbear Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 What a dilema, Cal! Not that you need my input, but.... I was looking at a copy of MRN that was the 50th anniversary of Porsche racing. Three really cool variants of the 911 were covered, Iroc, Rally, and the last Targa Florio winner. I have no doubt that you have probably built some or all of these, but I thought they were really cool. Some of the Fujimi kits, em10 for sure, are used. I know that Stradasports has the iroc and targa cars' decals. One of these days, I would like to build the targa car myself. As a porsche lover, I figured the first whale tails would be right up your alley. As a side note, you wouldn't happen to know anyone who has the 911 GT2 Champion, and or 911 GT1 Blue Coral decals? I have a several of the base kits, but with the supplied decals I am just not inspired to build them. Good luck on deciding! That is one of the hardest things for me to do also. Later, Greg

Later, Greg I was thinking of a quickie 962 kit... You know I used keep track of all the decals for Porsche race cars but I kind of fell out of touch with that. Let me see if I can jog my memory. I think Scale Motorsports did a bunch of GT1 decals.
sdrodder Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Well from your previous builds i saw your mainly into sport cars right. How bout timayas bmw 635 cis? Always wanted to build one for my dad as he has a 633 csi with a custom roll pan in the rear and he started shaving the trim. Sweet car but everything he does it kindof kicks him in the rear all the time. He fixes one thing another thing breaks. Well back to models, Lets see, I think its a timaya kit but a mecedes 300 sl roadster. The old one which was based of the gullwing. Or timayas alpina 3 series. Or this one is odd but how bout revell 49 merc or bmw e21?

I don't remember who did the roadster... I was thinking a Tbolt. Another kit with a lot of BMF... so I am not so sure Maybe a 120 Jag. or R8, R10, the New Nova see too many choices. If I could get my hands on one I would build the Heller Bentley Blower. Edited August 13, 2008 by CAL
62SS Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Just do what I do, Close your eyes and grab one. Or you could do eenie, meenie, miney, moe.

gregbbear Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Got another idea for you. Jimmy Flintstone's Porsche 550 conversion from a Fujimi 356. Selfish reasons, I want you to blaze the trail for me! Later, Greg RoG Porsche 962, Strada has the Rothman's?????

I just have settled on tossing down the coin. That is the old Hasegawa kit IIRC. I have a bunch of those Tamiya 962 that were formerly RC cars. Pretty simple curbside. The glass is already glued in from the factory, so that is a little distressing. Edited August 13, 2008 by CAL

Scalefinishes Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 How about a Gulf sponsored porsche? The R8 or 550 would also be cool. Jameston

Nick F40 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Nooo the R8 smart one, they raced one with the Gulf colors! here I thought I didn't need a reference photo http://www.arenamotorsport.com/images/gulf%20audi.jpg so you did? what is it!!!

That would be kind of different from the well known Audi colors. Ferrari 250 GTO is what I am thinking.
Nick F40 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Yeah I always wanted to do one, i'm sick of seeing the silver ones. Ahhh nice choice, I can see why you said I think it'll stick, I'll like this!

Maybe I will have to pick up the Revell Protar repop.
CAL Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 LVZ2881 said: is this one you mentioned?? I was curious how difficult it would be to build. I would like to build these, but not if its extremely difficult. I'm not up to Fujimi Enthusiast skill level yet ( though I have a couple EM kits stashed away) No I was thinking the Italeri/Testors 250 GTO kit. It doesn't look as complicated as the Revell/Protar kit with all the opening doors and everything. There is about twice the parts in that kit. I also have an original Protar kit. IIRC the guy over at Italian Horses rated as an intermediate level kit. I always hate to bust into a kit that may be hard to replace. I wouldn't feel so bad distroying a Revell repop. I saw a couple at the LHS today. I should just snagged one. I almost did. Yeah, the EM or the High Tech GS kit. The High Tech is said to be a problem child with a number of issues.
LVZ2881 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 CAL, you posted your response as i was deleting my post. I found the review of the RoG kit in the review section...
