Just a question for everyone,

Now that Caterpiller are pulling out of selling truck engines, but are still supplying after market parts to old engines are people going to put Cat engines in new after market conversion kits they buy and are the model company's going to put Cat's in the new kits they make ?

I doubt it. Caterpillar is still Caterpillar, and they'll still hammer anybody that uses there name, logo, likeness, or what-have-you without permission. I'm surpprised that the moderators of this forum haven't gotten an email about this thread because we used there name (four times!). I'm actually trying to avod using Caterpillar (I said it again!) engines in my models because if that. I also generally refer to them as You-Know-Who!

2010-2011 Cat will be back, they are working on building their own truck. They have agreement with Navistar to use part of Navistar's plant to build these trucks. Cat is going to use as much of their own designs as possible, no farming out body designs etc. The engine is going to be Cat, so they will be back in the "game". Cat is taking some time away from on highway engines to look at the global market. This is what a Cat rep told me a couple weeks ago at our open house at work.

Well, that's an interesting twist. I wonder if Navistar will still make International. Think you'll be able to get a Caterpillar truck in anything buy yellow?
