Roadkill2525 Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 The headlight lenses for my BMW aren't that great, whats the best way to replace them with pieces besides the parts box?
MrObsessive Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 If you've got a good train shop near you, check out what's known as "MV lenses". Train guy's use 'em for reflectors and such---------the only drawback is they don't have the fine lines that most sealed beam headlights have. Here's a pic of my Daytona Charger....I wanted the flip up headlights and didn't want to raid the parts box for dual quad lights............. Hope this helps!
larrygre Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Besides the MV lenses, Modeler's (a Japanese aftermarket company) made a sprue of various size headlight lenses in clear plastic. It does not seem to be currently in production, but I'd believe somebody out there still has stocks of it. HTH!
RadRidesByDan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) Another way to make lenses is use=ing Micro Clear glue.....When it dries it becomes totally clear. I use that to glue in my lenses so that the glue doesnt fog them up...also can be used to make dash gauge lenses...just apply to gauge and let dry....gives that glass look to them .........cool little glue Edited August 31, 2008 by RadRidesByDan

Looks Amazing Bill To go a bit further with your setup, and to create a Modern Euro Style Lamp Assembly(Earlier Styles didn't have the Lens Fluting, nor the Diamond Reflector Patterns at the back), one could simply drill out the back of the Lens Bucket, and insert a cut-down pin/needle with a silver painted Epoxy ball on the end....
