ronr Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 What do you do when you can`t get it from your supplier? Make your own! Out of the need for a magneto, I scratch built my own. Tools & Material: Miter box, Zona saw, drills, measuring device & super glue. I used K&S Aluminum tubing in 1/16,3/32,1/8,5/32,3/16 sizes, You could use brass or evergreen tubing. Cut to length: 1/16-.625,3/32-.500,1/8-.400,5/32-.400,3/16-.300. Put a tiny bit of glue on the end of each tube as you slide the inside each other. Make all the ends flush except the 3/16, make it flush with the bottom of the 5/32. After it has dryed start with a small drill bit and work yourself up to a .063 hole in the end of the mag as per pics. Paint the cap Flat Brown, glue 8 pieces of plug wire in the hole and instant Magneto. Drill a .063 hole in the engine block , glue mag and your ready to fire that bad boy up. Hope this helps out . RonR WHOOPS Pics are in reverseorder  Pic of finished mag would not edit, so you will have to check out my phtobucket to see it.
Stingray69 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Now that is trick! I may have to try that 8)
Jairus Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I have always considered aluminum tube can be cut to various lengths and built up to represent billet parts. Used it once but your Mag is quite a bit nicer! Great "how-to" trick, thank you for posting!
ronr Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 I have a few more that I am working on for later. Thanks for the compliments. RonR
