Painting coil over suspension parts

Hey forum 

Building the Tamiya 911 gt3,  amd was wondering if there was a trick or method to paint the coil over on the suspension for the car. The shock itself is one colour wear as the coils themselves are indicated a different colour.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks group
