plastikfreek Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hey guys.............. For those of you who have sold kits on the "bay", did you have more luck selling them individually or as a big "lot"...? I'm wanting to clear some space in the garage, and was curious if selling in a big lot is less trouble.................I've only sold them individually before, but was debating on just doing one big auction...............If any of you "bay" sellers have any suggestions/advice, I would greatly appreciate it. With all of the issues (paypal, scammers, etc.) I'm kind of hesitant at selling them on there at all anymore..... ....Maybe the local paper would be safer................ ................Are there any other "auction sites" that you guys use and would suggest? Thanks in advance for any help..........----------------------Ed

Just post that you have models listed at the site.
Harry P. Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 ebay is about as safe and reputable an aution site there is... you have nothing to worry about as long as you make it a Paypal transaction. As far as if it's "better" to sell kits one by one or in a large group, there's no one single answer to that. Some buyers are only looking for 1 or 2 specific kits and would have no interest in a big lot unless the price was right. Others would prefer to buy the lot all at once... there's no way to tell which way is "better", but I'd guess that if your bottom line is making the most money possible, selling individually is the way to go. If you'd rather have the convenience of one transaction, or just want to get rid of everything fast, sell it in one big lump. How many models are you talking? Ten? Two hundred? Keep in mind that if you sell the whole lot, depending on how many models you're talking about, it could require a HUGE box and a HUGE shipping cost.
plastikfreek Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks for the replies/info......... .......You made some very valid points concerning shipping costs on a "bulk" sale......as well as the points on buyer preference.......Like I said earlier, I've done decent on individual sales, but was just contemplating the other options.....I'll definitely check into eModelcars though............Thanks again for your help.........
george 53 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I've personaly never used it, but some of the guys here have suggested using "Craigs List" to buy or sell. Like I said, I've never used it, but it may be worth a try.
