Getting started.

I have finally have a Slot Car store and track close to my house. Logan Ave Slot Car Raceway in Belvedere IL. How do I get started in the hobby? Forums, magazines, scratch building and so forth? I have been surfing and found some on line stores. $395.00 for a motor !!! Any info would be greatly appreciated,

Short story. 1999 I spent $1000.00 on Carrera tracks, cars and accessories . We hired Bekins  in 2007 to move us. About 1 year  I can not find my stuff. Stolen and I could not make a claim too late. Lesson learned anything of value gets put into my car.

Hi Mike, 395 for a motor sounds very high end.  Are you in it for fun or serious competition?    We race HO scale in Rockford, but the "season" is almost over as we only have 2 more to go.   BTW there is a big scale track in Rockford (on Broadway) if your ever in town........
