Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks, chaps . . . here are some more progress pics . . . All right, maties, as we heat into this Tuesday's lunch hour . . . here are the mock up pictures . . . as they finally loaded up . . . enjoy . . . I don't know if you guys can tell from these pictures, but there's no trace of the decal paper, which is the magic of using Future, then decal with Micro Sol, and then dullcoat . . . ] Hey, I realized I don't have a steering wheel yet. I need to look through the scrap box . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks for the feedback, gents . . I appreciate it . . . okay, now we can continue with the lunch hour candy. Here are some more pics . . . enjoy . . . There's something mighty real about all those exhaust pipes not lining up right . . . Wow, plum colored headlight buckets . . .maybe I am over reaching into those seldom used colors . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Here are just a few more . . . this one really shows that paint texture . . .
evilone Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hmmm, i could use a rat or two, think ya could ship to sweden? Looking good on theese two metal rats, the one with the roof kinda makes ya think of poison ivy.. tell you what let me get some extra $ and i will buy all the rats i can get then sell them here for about $1.00-$2.00 + shipping
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Real rats or plastic rats . . . if they are real, that's a bargain!!!
evilone Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Real rats or plastic rats . . . if they are real, that's a bargain!!! hay they can be real, plastic,or the california special(half real, half plastic) i mean i can't get high off my own stash with out sharing it with a few people
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 I am back at the bench today, so I hope to have more progress . . . and perhaps finish these two before Friday rolls around. Stay tuned in . . . and thanks for all the feedback. Thank you all.
JAFFA Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Here's the interior of ACES WILD (Green rat!): I did the cushion with two part epoxy and I think it came out better than the other cushions, so I guess practice makes perfect. Also, don't ask about the chain under the seat!!! I would imagine the chain is for the brakes? tell you what let me get some extra $ and i will buy all the rats i can get then sell them here for about $1.00-$2.00 + shipping You know... what's scaring me here is, i'm not sure youre kidding me.....
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 I was thinking more in terms of self protection . . . a piece of chain does quite a bit of damange! Which is also why I thought of having a caged rat on the passenger side . . . for protection. A little sign that reads: Do Not Feed My Rat For It Is Rabid! The other thing that would be cooler than say, 1/24th scale rats, would be a Rat Fink leaning back on the seat with his feet up on the dashboard smokiing a stoggie!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 ACES WILD is pretty darn close to being finished. I have to touch up a couple little brackets, braces and stuff and it's done. I want to dust the tires a little bit, and maybe the interior or I might not test fate and just leave it alone!!! Stay tuned in for just a few more . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Here are a few more. I am trying out some new photographing lighting equipment (I'll show you a picture of it later) and I think these pictures are a bit crisper and better lit!
Harry P. Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Amazing work, V. But one thing really seems to jump out. Those whitewalls look TOO CLEAN! They're spotless! How about a little dirt, or a stain or two, or a mark where they rubbed the curb... or something!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Absolutely true, Harry. I'm gonna have to work on them . . . I'm in the process of finishing the other one, and once they are both done, I can do some general dusting of the tries . . . hum, I like the idea of the scuff mark! Thanks.
Harry P. Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Maybe even a mismatched set of tires... 3 WWS and a BW, fer instance. BTW... have you started your "homework assignment"?
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Yep, I've started working on my homework! Also, I really like the mismatched tire idea . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Here's the second rat looking pretty finished . . . IRRITANT RAT, I like that name!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Here's an under chassis shot . . . . Glad the Mooneyes are visible . . .
Paul Payne Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Great builds! Can't wait for your how to article! I also agree- the white walls are way too clean!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) Thanks, Paul . . . and lastly, I thought I'd have some fun with a few of the rats that continue to infest my workbench . . . Edited September 7, 2008 by DamnCranky
JAFFA Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Yep, I've started working on my homework! Also, I really like the mismatched tire idea . . . How about making the mismatched tire a different size than the rest? And make sure to get that caged rat!! Awesome pics, love your work, and cant wait for that "how-to" people talk about!
Jairus Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Nice family picture there V! Beautiful work as always.... now, the question on all of our minds is: "what is your next project?"
