jaxenro Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Lot's of seam filling and sanding to go but I made a start on it. I like it better than the AMT kit except the fenders are cast with the frame. Most of it is just placed together not yet glued
jaxenro Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 I'd like to get another one and use it as a base to make this
afx Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 (edited) The ICM looks like a nice engine. I started work on detailing up the AMT but have kind'a lost steam on the project. Your printed wheels look good. Edited May 9, 2019 by afx
jaxenro Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 (edited) The ICM engine is nicer all around but 1/24 and I know some like 1/25 I want to print a decent DOHC head next maybe Frontenac or Roof BTW nice clean engine build and stand Edited May 9, 2019 by jaxenro
Eric Macleod Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 (edited) I really like the build up of the engine on the stand. For accuracy sake it's off 90 degrees if using the water inlet housing or 180 if using a hoist. There isn't enough strength to hold a T engine by its tail so when removing or installing an engine we pull them from the middle (between #2 and #3), using an eyelet in #3 (shown) or using the head bolts between #3 and #4). That way you are lifting using somthing drilled into iron instead of aluminum and sheet metal. The hogshead (transmission cover) is cast in brittle aluminum and the engine pan really is nothing more than sheet metal. Hope the photo of my 1:1 (1913) helps. jaxenro Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 Fair, on mine it was weak as the intake wasn’t fully molded the only part of the kit it looks like the plastic was a little short there are a few others areas lacking like the plate on top of the tranny but for the most part it is nice
jaxenro Posted May 13, 2019 Author Posted May 13, 2019 It's in the "paint booth" now. I am going with a modern scheme of Testors Extreme Lacquer Graphite Dust over Charcoal Dust. The seats, tank, tool box, wheels, and fender panels will be the lighter diamond dust and the chassis and balance the darker charcoal, with a wood grained firewall and black floor mats, etc. Going to try for gold leaf pinstriping and trim, if I can do it Will post more photos as it progresses
jaxenro Posted May 15, 2019 Author Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) I had some blips with the painting the masks didn’t go exactly as planned but I am going to try to touch it up as opposed to redoing it all- the seats are still wet in this photo Edited May 15, 2019 by jaxenro
