935k3 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 This is the Modeler's kit. It's almost done. Paint is Krylon White. This is the 1966 Nurburgring 1000K winner.
RodneyBad Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Wooooo Perty. Looks pretty good but that passenger seat looks a wee bit uncomfy BTW: spare tire, Really? right there? Naaa
935k3 Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 (edited) If you don't think the tire belongs there it shows you do not know these cara very well, all cars at this time were required to carry a spare tire. Even in 1970 the Porsche 917 carried a collapsable spare tire. They were also mandated to have a set amount of luggage space which is why the 1966 Ford GT had 2 big empty boxes in the rear of the car. This car was a 2 speed automatic believe it or not. On top of that, they also had to have room for a co-driver and also tools to put on the tires. They also needed to have working horn. Chaparrel used to put bicycle horns in their cars to comply with the rule. Very nice build. I've seen a couple of these built up but none as nice as yours.

rollover Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I can't find it but I have a picture of a Chapparal leaving the start at LeMans showing the Texas license plate on the rear!
