mk11 Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Just sold for $380 US on the big auction site... https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Promo-1963-AMT-Ford-F100-Custom-Cab-Truck-Dealer-Promo-Model-Truck-/223584753801?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
leafsprings Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Demand has always been strong for the '60 and '61-'63, but that seems to be 3x the going rate! The 1:1 pickup boom started to take off in '64, what does AMT do?
mk11 Posted August 2, 2019 Author Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) Seldom seen variants are the Ford salesman award trucks. This came plated in 'gold' and 'silver', mounted in kind of a shadow box and seem to have been awarded from '61 - '66 with mainly the date on the bumpers changing from '63 to about '66. As Tom noted, AMT abandoned the Ford light truck market after '63 so they kept using the unibody for these. They tend to draw fair coin as well. Edited August 3, 2019 by mk11
leafsprings Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 (edited) AMT had the tooling for the '60 8' styleside bed, they had the tooling for the '53 Flareside box and had the tooling for the '63 unibody, however, IMO, they were just not interested in investing another dime in reworking the cab to go one step further by offering a '61-'63 Flareside or '61-'63 separate styleside by reworking the cabs of these kits. Oh, but we got the funky camper shells and mini bikes and go carts, trailers etc. Big choice of options by Ford, no choice of options by AMT. Edited August 3, 2019 by leafsprings
