cdansie Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Here's a R/M 48 Convert that had me busy for a while. I didn't much care for the mile high stance of the kit suspension so I swapped in a modified dropped axle from the 37 Ford kit and then lowered the rear a little. Wheels were made by cutting the chrome outer rims from the "Revell" mags in the kit and placing the painted 48 centers behind them. Paint is Testors Turquoise and Gunmetal grey/Pearl chassis and engine. Here it is compared to a stock 48 Woody. Unfortunately in this kit the same suspension is supplied for both the stock and the custom version. I think it is the same in the Goodguys version as well. One downside is that the decals were rubbish and just fell apart in the water. I managed to rescue the license plate Edited September 25, 2008 by cdansie
MrObsessive Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 That's a gorgeous '48! I have this kit (along with an old IMC build posted elsewhere) and I never noticed the ride height! It looks great the way you changed it!
camaroman Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Nice job on that kit!! I love the color!
John Goschke Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 That is really nice! Great color! Your adjustments to the ride height are perfect, and are a must for any build with the chopped top and windshield; thanks for the heads-up!
FactoryStock54 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Super fine build! Nice clean work on that Motor City Flathead. Excellent use of the old gray matter for the wheels. Great color choice too! I'm thinking one of my next projects will be a body-off resto of the ProModeler '48 convertible I built about 10 years ago; your build is inspiring!
RodneyBad Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 SchaaaaaaWeeeeeeeeeet Love the color and Stance for sure. Wheels look Great.. Great looking Engine and frame. Nice and Clean
