camaroman Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I have my new 69 Nova all painted up. I applied Testors 2 step Fathom Green.... When I applied the last coat of clear I have something that looks like a soap film on one fender...DO I try to polish it out or what??? It is like the third coat of clear and YES I did wait for the recommended amount of time between the first two and this one.....
Abell82 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 What was the humidity like, when it was painted? It sounds like there may be moisture trapped in the paint. Pics would be nice, to make certain.
Brendan Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Besides moisture getting into the paint, you could have either shot it too late or too soon and the paint was off gassing at the time. Another thing, you might have put too much clear on. I have had this happen to me a couple of times. You should be able to buff it out or sand it out, but you might need to put another shot of clear over the top after you're done.
camaroman Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 Thanks guys.. I polished the body with Meguiar's Deep Crystal system paint cleaner (#1). The haze/film is gone.
