1972coronet Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I've completed the build of the flathead V8 of the 1953 F-100 , which was an easy accomplishment... ... except for its radiator hoses ! I followed the instructions to-a-tee ; however , when I test-fit them --and installed them-- they ended-up splayed-out ! Now the engine assembly resembles the stance of a ready-to-strike Funnelweb Spider ! Where did I go wrong ?? I've built countless amounts of these exact engines , in this exact application , over the course of ~40 years ; I'm not unfamiliar with how they should look ; and , until today , had no problems . Are the instructions --reprints of the original P.I.T.A.-style AMT "map" instructions from the 60's-- incorrect ? I would like to see some built examples of that engine , and the clocking of the hoses , please . Thanks for any guidance !
gman Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Don't know if this helps- would have embedded images, but they are copywrited: https://www.modelroundup.com/1953-Ford-F-100-Coca-Cola-Pickup-p/amt-r2-1144.htm
1972coronet Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 @gman , Thanks much for the link ! I re-watched @hpiguy's review & build of this exact kit last night ; I didn't see where or how he attached the hoses to the heads (other than via the link you've provided to images of the completed build) . Thanks again !
1972coronet Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 I've got the "Funnelweb Spider" stance issue straightened out . Ostensibly , I had them on the wrong sides ! Haha ! Time for me to get me some real glasses --- the Dollar Store reading glasses are okay , but... Thanks again for your guidance !
