1979 MPC General Lee

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Last year, somebody handed me a box over with all sorts of muscle car kits from the early eighties, mostly MPC and Monogram.

As I am not looking into selling them, but building them, I do however have one question;

Between those kits I have a 1979 MPC kit still shrinkwrapped of the General Lee '69 Charger. Is this kit worth extra money? Should I take care of it?

As I mentioned, I am not looking for selling, but if it is worth a lot, I might consider and invest the money on other kits :lol:

But no, this topic is not a covered up ad, I genuinly have no idea of the value of this kit.

Well Steef, considering that the kit has been reissued a dozen or so times,and that the model itself is the wrong bodystyle, I would say it really has no value, howevr, since it is still shrinkwrapped, it may be special, mabe $15-$20.. If it is the original issue, I know there are people out there who collect vintage box art.. BTW, I never really consider a kit rare, Think about it, the make hundreds of thousands mabe even mllions of kits, and then you have to figure that they have all been reissued, at least once in some form or another..Rare is a tough one..What some may consider 'rare" others may not..

:lol: Steef, a kit is only as valuable as what someone is willing to pay for it, nothing else.Plastic has NO intrinsic value, it's only PLASTIC!. But the joy someone gets out of building it CAN be priceless. Your particular kit is not that rare, even if it is still wrapped, heck I've got two of em still wrapped downstairs! I was gonna build em years ago, then Revell came out with their 69 Charger and Poof! now they just sit onna shelf. If they turn out to be worth somethin, I'd like to know, caz them rascals'll be GONE!!! :lol:
