Geezerman Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Modellpularn's WIP salt 40 Ford inspired me to show my 'other' salt racer. This body was salvaged from the HORRIBLE one that was included in Lindberg's L700 I had a reference foto of a really cool flathead with a crank driven blower, so I bashed one up.
Modellpularn Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Hey man, cool car! I'm glad to hear my '40 got you going.... wild paint job, to say the least....
diymirage Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 "stumbles around looking for his shades" yes great paint indeed it is a very nice build personally i didnt think the ford was of any use short of a glorified chicken coupe (get it ,coup??) this is what became of mine
Bernard Kron Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Jeeze Geeze, it's gawgeous!!! It's so cool that you can do your own hand painted grafix. The chop is very tastee too.
evilone Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 holy cow check the flake on this one that flat head looks awsome as well but dang how much flake did you put into this one t must have cost a ton for the paint job alone it is freekin sick bro
RadRidesByDan Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 NIce work, Its good to see when plastic doesnt go to waste no matter how horrible it may be. Excellent build
Geezerman Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) Kevin, That is real HOK ( House of Color) mini flake. sprayed on mixed with clear, sanded, more clear, sanded, candy colors applied, and more clear. Just like 1:1 BTW, I didn't buy this just for the model. It was leftovers from painting my son-in-laws bike. Edited November 6, 2008 by Geezerman
Eshaver Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Geezerman, hummmmm, I don't recall ever seeing a "Crank-Mounted" blower on a V-8 Ford such as you're using. What exactly did you use for a reference?I actually build these engines and I sell parts for the same periodically . The Scott blowers were what we used in the 60's. Even today, an original will set you back a few cents, ha ha ha . I think Speed way automotive is still selling the reproductions . Very interesting build . KOMRAD ED formerly known here as Ed Shaver
torinobradley Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 All that flake must have added about a pound to that model...

Jon Cole Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 G-man; Nice Ford you built. Wish you had told me it was such a junk of a kit, then I wouldn't have gone and built this JUNK of a model. Model builders work a kit to make it the best they can. Being the only '40 Ford I have ever built, I cannot compare it to others, but with some stubborn determination, I was able to build it. Am I supposed to be embarrassed of it because it is, as said, a "junk" kit? It may be "junk" to some, but... I am still proud of what I built. My 2¢ worth, minus inflation. -Jon C-
Raul_Perez Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Well, having built all three, (Revell, AMT and Lindberg), 40 Ford kits, I have to agree with Geezerman that the Lindberg is the least favorable to build of the bunch. When a good friend of mine won the Lindberg 40 Ford kit in a raffle, I told him to do himself a favor and drop it directly into the trash can when he got home. Now with all of that said, yours looks really nice, especially the excellent paint job you put on it!! I can guarantee you that yours is the best representation of the Lindberg '40 Ford kit that I've ever seen built. I guess you've proven that given enough, (as you said), "stubborn determination", you really can make a silk purse from a sow's ear! It is certainly a model worth being very proud of!! Both of you; keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Rather you should be commended and proud that your skills (and determination) was able to let you pull out a great model from the crappy material you had to start with. Your Ford looks great!
