Cpt Tuttle Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 AMT Volvo F12. Not a kit I have seen very often so it will be interesting to try to build it up. Some gradient striping from yellow to orange to red was my idea behind the paintjob, with a black "base" so let's see how it turns out.
kilrathy10 Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 An F-12 from AMT? Hmmm.... I don't think I've ever seen this one... Can't wait to see what you do with it...
Force Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 AMT-Matchbox did a Volvo F10/F12, I think it was issued 1981 and you could build it as a regular or Globetrotter, Kit No PK-6130.
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 Paintjob turned out like I wanted to, it just needs some clearcoat now.
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 Seems like the F12 always had brown interiors, from the sources I can find, so brown it is. And yes, I am going to clean them up, since the seat bottoms aren't the most visible it felt easier to paint them on the sprue and touch them up later. I started building the engine already during the spring. Since it seems like they were painted with most of the stuff assembled, there is not much detailing to do, everything should be green. The frame was also assembled and painted during this spring. Red to match the striping on the cab.
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 Since the AMT steering wheel looks like a joke, I replaced it with the Italeri FH12 steering wheel which looks way more accurate. The necker knob is built from a tie rod and a gearknob, I know that it looks a bit out of scale but it looks more convincing IRL than in the picture. I guess I have to make some stalks for the column too since they are also missing.
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 25, 2020 Author Posted October 25, 2020 Clearcoat on the cab, molotow chrome pen on the door handle Chrome pen on the "VOLVO" lettering, flat black on the window trim.
