my80malibu
hi all, Looking for a better source of Wheels for my Grumpy's Toy that look closer to the box picture. Are there any aftermarket, or kit Sources available?
catpack68
I bought a set of Crager super trick wheels for the Grumpy Vega I’m working on from here.Much better than the wheels that come in the kit. https://futurattraction.com Edited October 18, 2020 by catpack68
my80malibu
Those are nice. Did you get the Frontrunner tires, or are those from the kit? I did look at those wheels. Unfortunately, futuraattraction shows out of stock on them right now.
catpack68
The tires are from my parts box.I believe they are from the Tamiya VW Beetle kit Edited October 19, 2020 by catpack68
my80malibu
I Emailed Scott to ask, when he might be restocked. He was able to fill my order for the parts, which is fantastic.
Force
Jenkins used Cragar Super Trick on this car as Cragar was one of his sponsors, and the ones Scott has are very nice. Many often call this type of wheel the wrong name most likely because they are so similar in design, but the Cragar Super Trick and the Centerline Auto Drag wheels are different when you compare them. The Centerline Auto Drag wheels are riveted together and the Cragar Super Trick wheels are bolted together and there are several more rivets on the Centerlines than there are bolts on the Cragars, the shape of the center are also slightly different between the two, so if you know what to look for you can tell wich wheel make it is. my80malibu
I had a set of Center line Auto drag wheels, once on a 1980 Malibu. That was my daily driver, back in the early nineties. Prone to leaking air, from the Silicone seal that was used to seal the wheel halves, and cracking, at the Rivet locations too.
