I have been asked to do a model for a company down the street who delivers concrete vessels.

Its a Mack, and I grabbed a couple of pics of it, but I'm gonna need some parts (retangle headlights and horns) also I would like to make the logo decals or have someone make them for me. Any ideas?

I have a side view drawing of the crane along with a couple of pics, so I shoould be able to scratch build that.

Thanks

Hey,

As far as the decals, i went through ELS model trains, Eric, super nice guy and did some great work for me on a custom project. i can post a few pics.

Looks like a really cool project. Sourkraut's model trucks has a hood conversion but its sold out.. As far as the crane can you post some in process photos?

Id love to give it a whirl.

Thanks

You definitely want to go to Sourkraut's for the majority of your parts (Hood conversion/Tires/wheels(front floats) chassis decals..misc items...Chris is very good to work with. Look under trailer accessories ...there is wood planking for the bed floor your are going to build....

Good Luck in your build....

Thanks Jason, ELS looks like th place for the decals, and I will take some shots of the crane as I go,though this will only be the second time I've worked with plastruct sheet to build a structure.

Kurt, thanks, Chris comes highly recomended, so I will be spending quite a bit of time on his site. I don't know much about trucks, (other than they're big, powerful, and just downright awsome to look at), not sure what model Mack this even is, I bought the R685ST because the fuel tanks looked right, hopefully I can get it pretty close to the original.

THe mack your looking at from the picture is either a C or CH model Mack. We rebuilt one 6 mos ago they make a resin nose for it, contact me via pm, and ill give you the name/email of a modeler in my club, who got th e nose and headlights etc from the guy he bought the nose from to use for a kit. I believe he used model Kings, dm 600 kit that was a re-pop for the cab and chassis... billd 64

The picture you posted..it is a RD. By starting with the R-model kit you bought is the first step...you will need to lengthen the frame..scratchbuild the flatbed, or use one off of the Ford Stake bed model. Aftermarket cranes are also available from Italeri (Ebay) or KFS (oversea's) Go the Sourkrauts site as I gave you the link earlier...here is the direct link to the hood that will matchup to the R-model kit you have...do not use the DM600 kit..which has an offset cab...

KFS

http://www.kitformservices.com/tq.html (TQ14 Truck Mounted Crane Kit)

Sourkraut also has the CH/CL resin cabs/hood (set) readily available as well...
