Roadkill2525
What are some ideal engines to transplant in the '55 Bel Air.
84vanagon
Dave has a good suggestion in the 348/409 Chevy. It was a popular swap in the 60's. You could dare to be different like "The Big Daddy". B.D. dropped a tri-power F.E. Ford motor in a 55 post in the early 60's' With the wide engine bay pretty much anything will fit. There are some pics on another site of a Merlin V12 (Rolls Royce aircraft) engined 55!
LVZ2881
It all depends on what time period your building it for?? late 50's, a 348, or possibly a Cad or Pontiac motor early 60's, 409 late 60's 427 etc, etc...
CAL
you may want to consider a fuel efficent 1.6 aircooled bug engine.
torinobradley
Late model Corvette mill Kieth black blown hemi TPI Small block with nitrous Carbed and nitroused big block All of these have found their way into my tri-fives How about a turbo V6 from a Regal GNX? Fairly original but still lots of power...
John Goschke
Here's the 2-4V 283 from AMT's new tool '57, with Vette valve covers and air cleaners from the 421SD Catalina to replicate a mid-'50s Corvette engine transplant. A more unusual option might be a Buick Nailhead. I understand the one in the recent reissue '66 Riviera has been upgraded with better detail parts. I dont think I would consider that engine for an american Icon like the 55 I would however consider a fly swatter for that bug Gabriel
