Audi has announced they will not be running the R10 next season, but they will have a brand new car...the R15 TDI. It is supposed to be a big leap from the R10. The car will be debuting at Sebring for the race. Here's a couple of links. No pictures yet.

They been kind of saying that for a while now. It is supposed to be a coupe, which I think is a rule change for 2010. But with Puegoet taking the fight to Audi, they said they would pick up a little with a coupe.

There is also a rumored Porsche Coupe LMP1 in pipe as well.

Actually, it will not be a coupe - Audi is sticking with the open cockpit format. The R15 will debut at Sebring in March, and then won't run again until L:eMans. The R10 will still be entered in the ALMS events at least until LeMans.

The R15 is going to be an open top car. No coupe yet. But there is a rumor that the Accura LMP1 car will be able to be a open top or a close top car. There are some pictures of the car being tested at Sebring as an open coupe car. But Accura is not saying much about what they're doing.

Interesting, Audi at one time was talking the new car would be a coupe to compete with the 908s, which have a little better aerodynamics.

Then I heard something about a rule change for 2010 that would assure LMP1 and LMP2 would all be coupes.

Had to look for sure, but yes, 2010 rules will be for coupes only.

Here is a speculation of what the R15 may look like according to some.

I hope that's not what the car is going to look like! It is one ugly car! Are you sure it's not going to be a Daytona Prototype? :)

I am not sure that is what it will look like, but I am sure it's no DP car.:lol:

But I cannot see Audi campaining a brand new open car for one year and having to build a new car for 2010.

It's not a Speed 8 EXP, which was a great looking car.

This thread is interesting and that is one ugly car, man the R8 and the R10 do NOT match  it looks like a Daytona Prototype. Hey, now theres some resemblence! Good stuff.

This is good news as I prefer coupays over the open tops, the two seater deal just doesn't do it for me. I am glad to hear that some will go over to coupe as they look cooler and have better aerodynamics. The rules are apparently letting both closed and open cockpits. And with the reducemant in power with the diesels! What happened to manufacturs not afraid of letting the fans know! B)

All I know is that they wanted something to compete with the 908 directly and Chris, the Speed 8 was a great looking car, down to it's green lights. Porsche Coupe LMP1, that ought to be good.

This is my favorite

4) Align GT1 and GT2 with FIA-GT rules for 2010 :P along with restrictors being reduced but extra ground clearence, maybe the Porsche, but their butt is like over 8 feet wide! ;)

that was just artist concept drawing.

BTW coupes are two seaters too!

and it's going to be even wider in 09.

That would be a good idea and then they would get more crossover.

Yeah I know, but at least you can't see them! ;) Wider the better ;)

What would be a good idea?

Aligning the rules for GT
