Well yesterday i bought lindbergs 48 lincoln continental kit thinking it would be a kool car to kustomize. Well today i started on it, multipiece body sucks, and it took me 30 mins to get the front fenders about right. So has anyone else build this kit. Anyone have pics? Any help would be great.

Flor, unless your on drugs, or just a plain ol glutton for punishment, leave that kit ALONE!!! As in DON'T even try to make somthin out of it! I don't think even TreeHugger Dave could make a presentable kit outta it.(OK, I take that back, Treehugger can make a presentable kit outta a ROCK! B) ) But I do think you've got your hands full with THAT bad boy! Incidently, it's GREAT ta see you back!!!! :D:D:D

Florian, don't listen to George. He's off his medication :D:D .

Like George said, welcome back .

Actually, for as old as the kit is, to me it's pretty good. I have this one I've been workin' on for a while and I think It'll turn out pretty good.

This is one of those "Older Kits" that ya just have to give it a little extra love and be patient, and it'll go together and be pretty pleasing.

Here's a picture of my "ROCK" I'm workin' on George

Tops "Lowered" a little, rear wheel wells opened up, hood, doors, and trunk opened to be hinged, and the front fenders lengthened into the doors. Notice the doors re-shaped. I didn't do what most do, to cut through the lengthened area, instead went around it for a little different treatment. They'll open "suicide.

A few other little changes and some kinda drive-line, and the "Old Girl" will be ready to go.

Here's a pic.

Hope this is a bit of encouragement for ya - Dave B)

Yeah, I will post a thread next year, as I have several that are closer to getting done.

I don't like to get too spread out :D

I love the style of this car. I started this about two years ago which is about average for me.

Here's a "Family Photo" of about a dozen projects I'll be finishing in the next few years.

The white '49 in the center is painted black now, and almost done.

The '48 Lincoln is front right, and there are a couple of scratch-builds, and so on. Lots of varity and plenty of plans for more to come. '09 will be a fun year.

Merry Christmas and God Bless - dave

One of Pyro's very first model car kits. Pretty bad by today's standards, but where else ya gonna find a 48 Lincoln?

The scale seems a tad smaller than 1/25. . .maybe more like 1/28? Some of the parts, like the steering wheel are definitely under-sized.

I've built one--not very well--and have two in the stash. The main issue as I see it is trying to keep the front fenders/clip properly aligned. Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

I've been collecting parts from various kits as I plan to kit-bash a proper-looking flat-head V-12 (splicing heads from a couple AMT 40 Ford flatheads; carb/air cleaner from the AMT 49 Merc, with scratch-built exhaust manifold from aluminum tube). Also a more to-scale steering wheel (from Monogram 48 Ford), and will probably de-chrome the dashboard; drill out the headlight bezels and try to do something about the over-thick molding on the grille. Wondering if the wide white sidewalls from the Welly 1/28 '53 Eldorado would work with this? Interior is very visible, so may add flocking as well as some door handles/window cranks from the spares box. . .the whole 9 yards.

Darn you SD now i have ideas of what i want to do to this kit.I mean it has to be atleast easier to build rather to 1:64th scale  .And it would be cool to have a lowrider 48,or a blown 48,or a protouring 48,ooooooh how about a prostreet 48.Good god man your gonna get me to be broke after i go to pegasus :lol:B) .

:lol: evilone, u will have a hell of a time with this one man. Well i actually got the front fenders on and started the bondo and cutting process. The ugly sticking up trunk is now in the parts bin and has been replaced with a peice of styren so kinda like the trunk of a 40 ford. The top(convertible top) is now chopped alot and angled to a stock windsheild frame. Now it will be molded in and made into a coupe. The front i may leave as is. The interior and frame will be scratched. The interior will use the original floor with kustom side panels and the frame will be made from styren square. Think i will post up pics later this week.

Now for futur builders. Tips to do it assemble the back half(trunk and fenders) and then if you are not trying to build box stock add on the side panels, put toggether the front and add that on. ITs not fun and i have glued up fingers still but it will slightly be worth it.

Evilone dude a lowrida 48 or a bomb would be AWSOME MAN. Maybe a blown 48. But let me tell u this little thing will make u want to blow it up. I will hook ya up with a pm with some info. Thanks for all the help guys
