Ben Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hello all, i'm working on a pickup project that I would like to put a bone stock Chevy big block and Turbo 400 transmission in and was wondering what kit out there has the most detailed of these items. Resin would be fine too! Did Ross Gibson ever do a stock BB Chevy? Any help would be appreciated! Pics would be great to if possible!!!!!!
Roadkill2525 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 AMT 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 454SS, nicely detailed and should be easy to come by with its many reissues.
Ben Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 AMT 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 454SS, nicely detailed and should be easy to come by with its many reissues. Cool! Does it come with the Turbo 400 trans as well? Thanks for the info!
Roadkill2525 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Yes, here's some of engine/trans from my Monte Carlo build.
fordsixty Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 that is a really nice looking big block, michael; however, the valve covers are on upside down. three bolts on top and four on bottom. good looking motor though.
MikeMc Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) Gibson makes a bunch of BBC...not stock intake and exhaust.....this one is injected And this one is BIG This one is over the top!!!!!!! Edited December 22, 2008 by MikeMc

I found that out after I painted them, if I take them off I'll end up destroying something.
george 53 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Ben, if I'm not mistaken, those LOOK like the super secret unobtainium BBC Alloy heads. The Int/Exh. valves were reveresed in these top secret heads. Yours look like 'em to me!
Ben Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Yes, here's some of engine/trans from my Monte Carlo build. Wow, thats nice!!!!! Exactly what i'm lookin for!!!! It doesn't come with an HEI by chance does it? I was also wondering if any aftermarket co. ever made a really detailed, pre wired HEI distributor? I would even settle for just the cap as I could machine the body out of aluminum. Thanks for all the info guys!!!!!!!

Ben Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 Cool!!! I just found a really detailed HEI unit in one of my Revell 82 Camaro kits! I pickued up a 70 Monte Carlo today as well. Theres a lot of stuff I was able to use!!!! First I built the motor and trans, chopped off the tail shaft housing and then added the transfer case from the 84 GMC kit. This is going to be my version of the "Fall Guy" 83 GMC 3/4 ton, 4X4 long bed pickup. I chopped and cleaned up the four core radiator from the Monte Carlo to fit into the GMC. The A/C evaporator box was cut out of the firewall and grafted onto the firewall of the GMC. I have a resin transkit on order from Germany that has the long bed, bench seat, correct rool bar, photo etch side trim molding, full decal sheet, longer chassis, etc. I'm going to attempt to add pics to this post, hope it works.
