Terry Jessee Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 http://public.fotki.com/TerryJessee/little-motorcycles/ If you like looking at motorcycles, I've got a small collection of 1/24 scale bikes, mostly diecast and plastic models, factory-assembled. There are Franklin Mint, Brookfield Collectors' Guild, Maisto, Ixo, and even a Hallmark Christmas tree ornament. Here's one of my favorites--1966 Triumph Bonneville T-120. Terry
Modelmartin Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) You have a very cool collection of bikes there, Terry. It is amazing the number and quality of 1/24th motorcycles available now. Here are a few of my favorites. I mostly go for Ducatis and GP bikes. Minichamps BMW IXO Mobilette - French moped thingie! jbwelda Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 heres some ive picked up or built over the years: moto guzzi die cast: mini bike out of the bed of some truck model i think: and finally (its been a short career in motorcycle building), the vespa from campus friends set: one more of it, this time real fuzzy but you can see the extracter system i built: one of these days i need to break into the revell parts packs motorcycles i have, its too bad they never did reissue those, though you can get a resin triumph from replicas and mins of mary
Modelmartin Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 The Revell 1/25th bikes wre reissued in the 80s as part of the "Grease" series. Of course that is over 20 years ago now. I would think the tooling still exists. Andy Martin
jbwelda Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 yeah i have that grease reissue too, but i think mine only has the honda and the stock triumph; were the harley and the custom triumph reissued as well? i remember just a few years back revell and/or monogram was scheduled to reissue all the motorcycles in a parts pack issue like with the motors, but then all of a sudden it disappeared from their release sheets. too bad to, i was chomping at the bit for that to come out.
randx0 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 (edited) I like those too I buy them when ever I see them. the minichamps bmws are pretty nice.I haven't been able to track down a domestic supplier for the ixo and onyx motorcycles. also it sure would be nice if someone would make some after market wheels and tires for the plastic ones especially the vintage dirt bikes in some of the older kits. thanks for sharing these terry.as far as plastic motorcylces go, don't forget about the entex ones, most weren't that great but a couple are passable wth a little work and some had drivers and side cars. Modelmartin Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 There is a seller on Ebay that goes by the name "Stealth Wholesale" who usually has great deals on IXO bikes and occasionally others. I just looked and they still have some of those Ducati 350 for $12.99 !! You can not beat that price. They have a lot of GP stuff and they also had a real cute 1951 Peugeot motorcycle listed. I have bought a lot from this seller and their service is great! Andy Martin
tim boyd Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008

Here's a picture of the AMT Triumph Bonneville built to replicate a vintage restoration including the white/french blue color scheme. This one is based on the Replicas and Miniatures rebop of the original that appeared (in pieces) in the 1962 AMT Annuals and as a complete model in the AMT 1963 Chevy pickup kit....TIM BOYD

jbwelda Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 thanks for the correx tim, i dug my grease kit out and like you say its the triumph & bsa. and i was confused about the R&MM one i guess; didnt even know amt made a triumph, thought revell had a corner on that market.

Bill....glad that I could help out. Like most AMT kits of the era vs. Revell,,,,the AMT was sturdier, easier to build, but lacking a touch of the delicacy of the Revell Triumph. I've built it in two of the three versions...restored stock and custom (with the ape hangers and the racing seat)....the Bonneville version is next.....best regards TIM
