1972coronet Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I'm having fun building this great kit; I'm making some real progress (unusual for me), but have met a roadblock: assembling the interior. For the life of me, I cannot get the door cards to adhere to the floor pan! Been trying to assemble it in a similar fashion that I'd employed to assemble the bed. However, unlike the bedsides, there's no sufficient area for me to 'tape-and-glue' (tape the assembly together, then 'tack' it in-place with Tamiya Green Thin, then remove tape and brush-on Plasti-Struct adhesive at the joints and sides). For those of you whom have built this kit: How in the devil did you assemble that obstinate interior? Thanks much!
Casey Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Try a tiny bit of superglue for the tacking part, then flow the liquid cement into the joint after the tape is removed. 1

I'd applied CA glue (same 'red bottle' stuff which HPI Guy uses -- great stuff!) and reset the door cards. That was around 1300 today; now it's 1805, and I'm going to check the assembly shortly. The main issue is that there aren't any positive locating marques -- I find that unacceptable on a modern-design, modern-tool (albeit, 24 years old now !) kit. The bed's interior walls were easier, as I'm not painting the kit's body (other than the vinyl top, the black on the rocker panels, etc., and requisite trim (both foil and Molotow, depending). However, the interior is a... um... 'female dog' to assemble with the tedious scraping-off of the paint at the 'glue here' marques. Certainly, the 'slop' on the dashboard mounts' slots, and the rear interior bulkhead rail don't help matters any.
