Captain Obvious Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I haven't posted an "in-progress" thread in a long time, so figured I'd post this one. Kit is Tamiya's '88 Porsche 911 Turbo, paint is Testors Silver Blue metallic lacquer and High-Gloss clearcoat. Interior is Testors flat Dark Tan enamel. The chassis is molded in black, and I have added various shades of silver, with a wash of the sludge at the bottom of my brush cleaner bottle and drybrushing with gray and brown. About halfway through the polishing process, so it should pick up a little more gloss before I call it done. The body shell: The interior: The chassis: The mock-up: Some thoughts about the kit...overall, it's a pretty fun build, because there's nothing to it. That same simplicity, however, is not what I expect from Tamiya. I mean, no seat backs? METAL AXLES? But what details are there are done very well. Will post more as the build progresses. Thanks for looking!
CAL Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) I have to build too. I think it may have been one of their old electric motor kits way back when converted to a static model. Their snap-lock Porsche are pretty basic too. Looks good so far though. Edited January 5, 2009 by CAL
Rob Hall Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Looking sharp...love the color scheme and the wheels...that's one of my favorite eras of Porsches, and love to see a Turbo in something other than Guards Red, black or silver. I'm embarassed to admit, but I'm not sure if have this kit or not... I bought a bunch of Tamiya kits from around '96-02 that are in storage.. Edited January 5, 2009 by Rob Hall
