NWRMorpheus Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 Hello everyone! I have a question about india ink. I have been trying to do some research but I keep finding the same results. The results are pretty much using the ink as a wash which is great but I am wondering about using the ink on a car or truck body as the primary color. This would be painted on with an airbrush on top of a sanded and primed base. Curious as to adhesion as if I wanted to do some masking would the tape pull off the ink? Also do you think it would hold up with a 2k clear? Thanks for your time, Pat

Maybe mix it heavy with a gloss or flat clear. I use it with a flat Acrylic Medium, but I use it as a wash so the mix is light on black. I suspect if you try to spray just ink, there will be nothing to bind it to the plastic. I would sand a spoon and try it on that. See if it dries, if it does, see if it sticks. Then try tape. You may find it will stain the plastic, but not paint the plastic.
NWRMorpheus Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 Never thought about adding it to a carrier. I do have some and I shall give it a try as soon as the ink shows up. Thank you!
stinkybritches Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 (edited) Check out this YouTube channel: Barbatos Rex <--- link If anyone has tried it, it would be him. Lots of great videos on airbrushing different kinds of paint. Edited March 4, 2022 by stinkybritches spelling

Thank you! Is there an effect you are looking for? I’m just wondering why are you wanting to use ink? There may be other ways to get there. As I said, I use the ink, but I find it great as a wash, panel lines, etc. Depending the look you are after, Future may be a good carrier. I am currently using Liquitex flat medium, for a flat finish. Let us know what you want to achieve and we may have better input.
